Our current "net" spend us zero

Why are no more signings arriving if we haven't spent any money beyond player sales ! What about the money from telly deals etc ! Are we at a stage now where the only money spent is money made by players sales !

Am I dreaming or did he say/infer not that long ago words to the effect that after bringing in some players to give the squad some depth he be looking to add some quality ?

We've signed some stocking fillers now where's the quality ?

Does it mean that he was initially expecting to have some cash (maybe from the sale of Suarez) to buy quality and now that cash apparently won't be forthcoming we can forget about signing anyone of real note ?

:(

I have no idea, I quite like Rodgers but he's got to knock off telling people what they want to hear and then backtracking. I'd rather hear how it is and go from there rather than be fed cryptic bollox. We've got to have some sort of budget other than that from sales so I would like to see two first teamers before the window closes, though sadly my expections aren't nearly as high  :(

Calm down. We have money to spend. We tried getting mkhitaryan for 20mil+ and we bid 22 mil for Costa. Unfortunately both of those targets could not come or various reasons. At the end of the day, if you want to add real quality, and spend 20 mil+, it's best you don't end up panic buying late in the window ala Carroll.

So if we werent going to get Mhyktaran who was plan B and it was a while ago now and again there has been no confirmed bid from us yet for Costa - just paper rumours.

And panic buying ? It's been open for 6 weeks now with deals being sorted by many clubs even before the window opened. The owners have stated there isn't enough time to get a replacement for Suarez if he left ( over 3 weeks left in the window ) and BR has said no arrivals to come ( despite saying players for the first 11 will arrive 2-3 weeks ago ).

Again it's another case of actions not matching words from both owners and manager.

id say he is bluffing about not signing anyone else. we will but maybe not the kind of level we want.
this is my biggest gripe about rodgers, the cryptic stuff and the backtracking is what does my head in along with the buzz words aimed at the fans. i wish he would just leave it out and only do interviews he is contracted to or at least not give an answer to every single question asked.
we have been ok in preseason and im sure he is buoyed by the fact we have scored lots and just conceeded one. i wouldnt expect any new faces against stoke but i reckon he will at least bring in another 2 before the window shuts. if the rumoured departures of skrtel and downing happen then they will have to be replaced and i would expect him to have his replacements ready.

I think it's a case of we've gone for Mhyktaran & Costa and have been rebuffed for both at £20m+. Now it's a case of who else is out there good enough to spend £20m+ on?? I'd rather we wait and get the right quality in rather than spending that kind of money on just anyone. There's too many ridiculous valuations out there, even Costa wasn't worth £20m imo. Who exactly is available in that price bracket and good enough to improve us???

All he said is there's nothing new to report on transfers right now, isn't it? So he's just saying nothing to report right now, not for the rest of the window. Unless I read that wrong.

IF the window would close now this summer would be a major dissapointment.
We finihsed 7th and haven't really done much at all trying to close the cap.
Just bought some cheap hopefuls for less than 10 million.
Back to what Rafa had to do when players like Pennant and Crouch were bought cause we couldn't afford better.

Ben Arfa spends more time on the physio table - skillful player but made of glass - Cabaye is a very good player

Unlike some on here, I don't mind how wer'e going about with the transfers. Sure, we may not have net expenditure, but it seems to me like BR is going for the right players and not buying players for the sake of buying. If we identify the right player and he is availabe for the right price, we will go for it. We have let go of deadwood and bought in players who may yet still improve our team. Besides, players like Sterling, Coutinho, etc have more experienced now with playing with each other. We have to put into perspective that last season was a transitional season where BR was still tweaking the way we play. I'm sure, this season he will be able to get much more out of this squad. If we end up 7th again, sure, it will be a disappointment. But I have a feeling we will do much better this season...

The problem is our squad is already one of the smallest and least expirenced squads in the prem and a couple of injuries and we could find ourselves in trouble.
