Cissokho ? Matri ? Costa ? At least with Cissokho its a loan deal and we are a bit thin in the left back position but why on earth are we looking for more forwards when we play ONE striker and have 4 already (Sturridge, Suarez, Borini, Aspas) who have to be played out of position to get some game time. Adding to that is the fact that both Matri AND Costa are nowhere near good enough to command starting spots. Not in the lone striker role, and certainly not down either flank. Both aren't huge improvements on the likes of Borini and Aspas, and at the quoted prices we'd be paying about double the figure that their abilities should command.

I still dont understand why we arent going for players who can come in and improve the starting 11. There's plenty of them out there and we seem to have the money to spend. The likes of

CB:
Astori (Cagliari)
Ranocchia (Inter)
M. Sakho (PSG)
Adil Rami (Valencia)
Shawcross (Stoke)
D. Godin (At. Madrid)
H. Moreno (Espanyol)
Nicolas N’Koulou (Marseille)

Same kind of list could be compiled for right wingers, center midfielders..etc
Even if we are going after forwards and second strikers for whatever reason, there's much better out there for less. Vucinic, Fred...etc

I don't like Matri. His control of the ball is horrible and he's average at everything else.

It looks like we're interested in Sakho again. I would prefer the Greek but I can understand if management is afraid to sign him because of the injury. Sakho is also a good player and I wouldn't complain if we sign him.

Reds eye move for £5m Brazilian Siqueira

Reds boss Rodgers hoping  to add to squad with new season just days away

Liverpool FC are hopeful of completing the signing of Granada left-back Guilherme Siqueira as Brendan Rodgers looks to add to his squad before the new Premier League season.

Rodgers has been  eager to add to his  full-back options this  summer, with Jose Enrique the only recognised senior left  back at the club  currently.

Moves for Aly  Cissokho of Valencia,  and Lorenzo Melgarejo  of Benfica have been  considered, but it is  Siqueira who has now  emerged as the prime  target, and Liverpool are confident of  concluding a deal to  sign the 27-year-old  Brazilian on a  permanent basis  before the transfer window closes in three  weeks’ time.

Siqueira has  impressed during three  seasons at Granada, helping the  Andalusians to  promotion to La Liga  in 2011.

He signed a four-year  contract soon after,  but it is believed  Granada will be willing  to let him leave for  around £6m, though no  fee has been agreed at  this stage.

Sounds like there is some solid backing to the Siqueira rumors.

Rodgers has also came out and said Coutinho will play in the number 10 role because that's where he's best, but we have to sign a wide player first that can do a job out there.  That's good news to me... Not only is he pushing for that final attacking player who can do damage from out wide, but he's planning on playing Coutinho in the middle, which is where he needs to be.

Siqueira would certainly be a better signing than Cissohko. Would be about the same as Enrique but a bit cheaper

raheem sterling to west ham on loan,, with liverpool already needing a wide man and downing on his way out is this a stupid move, i think we need to keep him. yes he could do with game time but i feel he could get plenty staying with us.

Can't see any sense in that at all.  It would leave us short to say the least.

If this happens we must have two wide players lined up to come in???

I think it must mean that we are getting others in, although Sterling offers so little to the team anyway. I'm a bit surprised by Downing though as I think he offers good cover but I guess he was on big wages plus maybe he wanted to leave.

Sterling offers "so little to the team" ???

Are you serious ? He is one of the brightest talents in the prem. Utd just paid over £15mil for someone with half his talent.

Agreed benny. Sterling has a big future and has looked very impressive pre season. Lets hope all this ***** stops going on though.

He hit the scene full of promise, got a contract and big pay rise and disappeared in ever decreasing circles up his own anus, except for the time he was in the news for smacking his lass about.

He was overplayed and tired. We shouldn't have played a kid that age so much in the first half of the season. He has looked great pre season.

Exactly Ben because he was over relied on last season ( because too many expirenced players left ) he got burned out. Hopefully don't see it happening again this season

Sterling will be one of LFC's main players in the new few years. He did indeed get burned out from being over relied upon last season. But no worries, he'll be alright this season. I'm sure we'll sign more players of the quality to do the first 11 justice before the window shuts.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has drawn up his final list of defensive targets after all but giving up on a move for Real Madrid centre-back Pepe. According to the Mirror, Pellegrini is resigned to the fact that Pepe will not be leaving the Bernabeu and has narrowed down his selection to Schalke's Kyriakos Papadopoulos and Napoli captain Paolo Cannavaro. It is believed the Chilean is more keen to sign Papadopoulos than Cannavaro and is hopeful of completing a deal for a defender in the coming weeks, especially given Matija Nastasic's injury struggle.
