Liverpool footballer Raheem Sterling has been charged with assault following an incident on Merseyside.

The player, who made his debut for England last year, was arrested at about 22:30 BST on Thursday in the Page Moss area of Huyton.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge of common assault at Liverpool Magistrates' Court.

The 18-year-old was bailed ahead of a trial at the same court on 20 September.

What f.uck is going on with this kid? Not the sort of press we want at the start of a new campaign with all the Suarez saga ongoing.

Well yes you kind of are actually, this kid is a bit to prone to lash out and I don't want this kind of scumbag in the club, plus he is massively overrated anyway.

Yes pre-judging like you always do with the guys you don't like isn't it

OK we don't know what actually happened so what's the point of condemning him and asking him to be sold etc? Remember he is actually still 18, rich & famous...young adults at his age tends to think they are untouchable and too good for everyone and Raheem is no different. We've already see a sign or two of his greed when he came asking for a big pay rise after a quarter of a season of first team action. I trust BR with his "put you on the first plane out" hammering soon!

Judging people's ability on a football field is slightly different to judging someone on a criminal case or their personal character. And I'm pretty sure BR won't do anything until he has the facts and when the lad is actually found guilty of something - until then I'm sure the club and its supporters will back him, as opposed to calling him a scumbag and wanting him thrown out of the club

yeah that was astonishing when he talking back to his manager as if he was some kind of bigshot player. he's a very arrogant stupid little boy with very limited talent and I don't like him being associated with the club, having 2 kids with 2 different women also speaks of his lack of a moral backbone and general tw@tishness.

He has more than two kids.

Where there is smoke there is fire and it is happening to him too often. When it happened last year his form dipped and he lost his starting place. The case got dropped, he worked hard over the summer and was looking good in preseason. I just hope his form does not drop again. I feel that this time the case will not be dropped so we will see what will happen. If it is his girlfriend he (alledgedly) assaulted then it is less likely that it was someone that wanted attention like someone he did not know in a bar and there is probably something in it. He will probably become more difficult to handle.

A bit early to be asking for him to be sold, but isnt this the second time he has been involved in something like this in the last year?

Internet searches on Sterling bring up false stories about how many children he has fathered.

He has one daughter, Melody Rose, born seven months ago after a brief relationship.

Sterling added: “Some of the stuff you see is unbelievable. I’ve read stuff that I’ve got five kids and another on the way. It’s just crazy and it’s completely wrong.

“I find it funny to even think about it. If you bite at it, rise to the bait, then it makes it worse.

Ok so maybe only one child but that is irrelevant. He has had various cases where he was accused of assaulting women. A court case hanging over him will only distract him from doing well for the team, judging by last year.
