city were also battered by wigan in the f.a cup final and ended the season in turmoil as half the squad sniped at each other and the manager in the press.
pellegrini has got a job on his hands there to get everyone pulling in the same direction

And he has now added to that squad which was miles ahead of us - 4 world class players purchased and a top manager to mould them together. They will be clearly in the Top 4 and clear favourites for the prem - expect them to win it with Chelsea just behind.

Im not sure what you expect to happen with these teams ? Do you really think they will drop that much for us to get in amongst us ? For a squad that were in turmoil they still finished clearly in second a good 17 points ahead of us ! Chelsea 14 points ahead and have also purchased quality plus Maureen coming back - the Mancs 28 points ahead of us and looking to bring in players like Fabregas.

If we really want to get amongst them then we need to improve our squad not clutch straws and think managerial changes will drop them down.

For example - Chelsea brought in Maureen then won two prems, brought in Ancelotti then won the double - RDM then the Cl , Rafa then the Europa.
City brought in Mancini and won the FA Cup and then Prem.

A managerial change can just as easily improve the club

he`s not a bad player but he`s injury prone and there are questions about his motivation.
it looks like we are really struggling to attract the top names, players just see the likes of suarez wanting out and gerrard nearing retirement and probably think to themselves we are a club moving in the wrong direction.

I dont even think we are looking for the top names, at least not serious enough to open with a bid. we had more than enough time to secure eriksen, bernard and mkhitaryan if we wanted to.
I worried at the time rodgers was getting the job that he wouldnt be able to attract top names to sign for us and maybe its true or he just isnt interested in them.  look at the reception they got on arrival in Jakarta and tell me we are not a big club.
our problem is that either rodgers wants to do it his way, with his players or FSG will just simply not spend that kind of money on a single player so he has no choice other than scour the place looking for a bargain. a similar situation that rafa had to deal with and that kinda began our descent to where we are now, I cant see the same policy getting us out of it either.
downing is more reliable than ben arfa and i hope we dont sign him. if we are to go to newcastle looking for players then papiss cisse would be worth a shout and he is a proven goalscorer.
in fairness to rodgers he had us playing good football from january and will surely want to improve on that whilst not repeating a start to the league like last year. If he believes these are the players that will herald that then i support that even though i believe we should be aiming a little higher.
loads to go in the window yet so hopefully some weaknesses will get addressed soon and we kick on because there will be more expectation and pressure next season.

I'm pretty sure Suarez is staying put this season.

Also, I'd be happy if Bale went to ManU, because it is clearly Spurs that are in competition with us, not ManU, not at this point in time. Anything that weakens them and Arsenal is a good thing for us.

From Rodgers' recent comments on Mkhitaryan, it's clear that we only had one top target and that was Mkh. So we've definitely have had to reconsider many things after we failed in our bid for me. It'll be interesting to see who we look to now.

I really think that a good CB, and some muscular beast in MF (which Mkh was supposed to be), will change our fortunes. I'm not even that concerned about the CB position, I really just want a little more muscle in our attack - IMO that's a missing piece in our team.

Says on Sky Sports Real Madrid are reportedly offering Higuian plus 20 million for Suarez. If that rumor is true, we should snap their hands off.

Would love this. Unfortunately can't see Higuain agreeing to it. His got a host of clubs interested in him who will pay his salary and offer him CL. I'm coming round to the idea of telling Suarez his staying put for at least one more season and then gambling and spending some real cash to make a push for a CL. Reality is, any replacement striker we bring in to replace Luis will be a downgrade. Yes, we may end up strengthening the team overall from the money we receive from any possible Suarez sale, but he is a match winner/big game player and they are priceless.

I'm really hoping we can bring the first team players Rodgers refers to. Still a month and a half left until the window closes so enough time to do business. My only concern is the competition for players. We can't go for the very best players as they are being gobbled up by the likes of PSG, City, Monaco, Chelsea, Barca, Real Madrid etc. That leaves the rest fighting over the 2nd tier players and makes things very competitive

bertrand is okay but when rodgers said he was planning on bringing in a couple of players to strengthen the first team i was expecting someone a bit more high profile.

Think Bertrand is going to turn out a real good player and not surprised Chelsea won't let him go. Versatile and can play a bit forward to. Remember seeing him in the CL final and he looked quite at home on the big stage for someone so young. Wonder if he was one under Rodgers when he was at Chelsea. It is so competitive for the bigger players. We are competing against clubs prepared to pay silly money for fees/wages and offering CL as well. Think we may have to be a bit shrewd and maybe go for players who have fallen of the radar a bit. Coutinho and Sturridge were good examples of this

Aly Cissokho rumour on a year loan deal with a view to buy.

Big strong left back (Rodgers still doesn't rate Enrique clearly).
