Big strong left back (Rodgers still doesn't rate Enrique clearly).

due to the amount of left backs we are linked with then i wouldnt be surprised if enrique is gone this window

Maybe it's just to add competition and more options in that position. I'm sure Enrique will stay with us.

by all accounts this cissokho isnt that great on the ball, certainly his youtube clips arent anything to write home about - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7D0Dh4hBcxo
looks like more squad fodder to me.
where are these `starting XI` type signings that rodgers spoke about?

I think most of the players we've already signed will be getting plenty of games in the first 11.

Mignolet will be our first choice GK.
Toure might be a squad player but I have a feeling he'll still get plenty of games.
Alberto will play in the cups and possibly an impact sub in the league as he settles.
Aspas will most likely get plenty of games in the front 3.
Sterling and Ibe will also be pushing for a place and will get plenty of time.  (particularly Sterling).
This Cissokho lad will possibly be first choice LB.

I think we might only see 1 or 2 more signings.  Probably a CB and an attacking midfielder.

IF (I say if because some on here seem to assume rumoured signings are already squad members - cracks me up) Cissokho is signed, he will be backup to Enrique. There nothing I have seen that would say he is better than Enrique.

Actually I think the negativity towards Enrique by some on here is picky to the extreme. He is a great player, who fits into Rodgers style well. He is arguable the most technically competent left back we have had in the PL era.

In his latest interview, Rodgers has hinted that we need more cover at LB and at the top of the field.
The Cissokho on loan rumour seems to be very strong and would definitely provide some cover over there.
I have no problem with Enrique at all though.  I agree that he's a very good player.

I have a feeling we may not be in for more CB's though.  Obviously I have no idea but its just a feeling I get.

players have we signed (so far) - mingolet, aspas, luis alberto, toure, dhanda
players who have left (so far) - carragher, carroll, shelvey, wilson, gulacsi
players loaned out next season - reina, suso, ngoo

looking at that it doesnt seem like a particularly great summer up to now, certainly nothing there to suggest we hell bent on getting back into the top 4.
we have pretty much broke even too if you balance the outgoings against what we`ve recouped in sales (infact we`ve probably saved a fortune on wages with carragher, reina and carroll leaving).
i hope we arent waiting for suarez to go before we splash out on a couple of first team players.

Well, we already signed Coutinho and Sturridge in Jan and we were showing some signs of top 4 form after their arrival.
I think Sterling will kick on a bit next season and make a great impact sub.
and apparently we're still in the market for another attacker.  I'm in the "wait and see" camp for now  :D

We certainly don't seem hell bent on getting back into the top 4 this season though.  I agree on that.

coady is going to sheff united on loan, forgot about him on my list.
luis alberto looks a good signing but lets face it everton managed to sign the star of that barca B side gerard deulofeu (albeit on loan) and the likes of norwich and southampton have signed quality players like van wolfswinkel and wanyama.
never mind trying to close the gap on the likes of city, united and chelsea we`ve got to watch the other teams around us like southampton and swansea. southampton already over ran us in midfield and gave us a footballing lesson at the end of last season and i imagine with wanyama in there our midfielders task just got even tougher. swansea have spent big by their standards too.
fsg need to get their chequebook out and start buying some first XI type players who will actually improve the team.

yeah i remember him saying he was happy with the squad depth and from now on in he was only bringing in players that would strengthen the starting XI but who are the next players we are heavily linked with? bertrand and cissokho? (when i say heavily i mean chelsea announced that they`d turned down a bid from us and the valencia manager has said cissokho is going to liverpool on loan)
by the looks of it luis will have to go before we bring in anyone remotely resembling a marquee signing

So far we have broke even, and saved a lot on wages.  This makes sense re FSG's policy to get us back into financial health.

That's all well and good, but if we start sliding down the table the decline becomes irreversible, and our finances may well balance but they will get smaller and smaller as our revenue declines.

What we need now is that alleged £30m pot for transfers to be used to bring in two first team improvements without anyone else leaving.  If (when) Suarez leaves then we need to use that money (£50m at least) I hope, to add another 2-3 quality first teamers.

The rumour on Ajax's fans rumour board is that we have bid 21 million euros for Eriksen

It is also all over Eriksens own twitter page

Aurelio

Yeah ok, I'll give you that. Although I would say that technically the ability was similar but different in the way they executed it.

Aurelio had great dead ball ability but was not as adept at working with the wingers in getting forward. Passing ability is too close to call IMO.

Both great players, unfortunately Aurelio's downfall was fitness.
