I think Arsenal will struggle. At the moment they have bought Nobody. Its all well and good bidding 30 million for a 40+ million rated player. There has been TALK of Suarez to Arsenal or Higuain to Arsenal or Fellani to Arsenal but still they have signed nobody. Even Cesar in which there was TALK of going to Arsenal will sign for Napoli.

I personally think we will sign Eriksen this week. Well i hope we do anyway

It's all a bit too saddening and I'm not convinced we are doing anything in the window to change the status quo. :(

That's the path we took when we went for an unproven inexperienced manager. It's the "long haul" - the problem is it ignores the here and now - and that's all the players focus on.

Clubs like Arsenal and Spurs will be rated higher than us at the moment - and we have to find a way to get past them. I can't see it happening this season - not sure when it will happen

Another youngster signs

-----------------------

Liverpool have snapped up Valencia youngster Pedro Chirivella on a four-year deal, writes writes The Sunday People's Tom Hopkinson..

The 17-year-old midfield sensation is one of the rising stars of Spanish football.

Valencia are demanding around £3.5million for the player with The Merseyside club offering around £2m less. If no deal can be reached, then a tribunal will set the final fee.

Chirivella was on the verge of joining Barcelona in 2001 after Valencia accepted a bid for him, but the player himself turned down the chance to join the Catalan giants.

The Reds also tried to sign another Spanish youngster, 16-year-old Mario Rodriguez from Real Madrid, but he turned down their offer and agreed a four-year deal at the Bernabeu.

that bernard is the player i hope we sign, he`s another coutinho that lad but he operates from a slightly wider position, he`d be perfect for one of the wide forward  spots in our front 3.

                                                             coutinho

                               suarez/aspas          sturridge        bernard

i`d be more than happy going into next season with that line up. if suarez leaves aspas can fill his shoes.

Another small technical forward ? Maybe we should look towards adding a different dimension to vary our options - someone a bit more physical with power.

it wouldnt be a bad idea to have someone in the squad who we could throw on with 20 minutes to go if we were struggling to break a team down but it`s pointless spending big money on someone who wouldnt be getting much game time because he doesnt suit the managers preferred style of play.
as i said that bernard would be a great signing imo but i doubt we`ll get him.

Not just the last 20 mins though - plenty of games throughout the season where we will need a different dimension when attacking. Need more than just plan A

to be fair once coutinho and sturridge arrived plan A looked pretty effective, our problem wasnt neccessarily scoring goals but keeping them out at the other end (like when we threw a 2 goal lead away at arsenal or shot ourselves in the foot away at city).
add someone like bernard to our foward line and plan A will be even better.

Plan B doesn't always require a change in personnel.

It did at times but also at other times we struggled again to create when the opposition where hassling us and not giving us time or space - teams that got physical against us - another small technical player won't help out during those type of games.

I hope we don't spend money on someone like Bernard - talented and skillful he maybe but not what we need

The only time we got hassled was in midfield. We have the players upfront to hurt teams.

Buying a big burly player will be detrimental to the sides style. Hence Carroll being offloaded.

Bernard does look a good player but would be concerned as to whether his a good fit for english football. As well as being 5'4 he does looks very slight in build and I'm inclined to agree with Benny and say I'd probably look to bring someone in who can bring a bit of physicality to the team. In Coutinho and Aspas, we have the smaller trickier kind of players. Luis Alberto  doesn't look like his the biggest guy's around  either so I'd just be a tad concerned it would leave us with quite a few short guys in the squad and I think i think in this league you do need a some height in the team, especially when defending set pieces. Might have been worth looking at him if he hadn't signed Aspas but at the moment I'd probably be looking for someone who offers something different, especially with price being quoted for him

Well it looks like we are waiting to off load suarez before we go back into the market, BR has already admitted he hasnt made a real first team signing yet so has the plan always been to sell suarez?

Liverpool are not interested in Eriksen.

Apparently we've sent a scout to Holland but nothing more, there has been no contact from Liverpool to Ajax.
