yes I apologise to for my part in this thread being ruined. I now have him on ignore and the world is good again.

There are a few reports linking Downing with Fulham but only on loan

If Fulham want Downing then they can give us Kacnaklic back and also Ruiz

Loaning Downing would be a horrible mistake.. he actually still has some value, unlike Joe Cole when we were loaning him out.  We need to keep Downing, or cash in on him, and I'm fine either way.

This is old news and I thought Liverpool had categorically stated that Downing was not available as a loan option.

Def wouldn't even consider a loan - either pay a decent amount or give us some players

There's no way Downing would be allowed to go out on loan is there? surely we still need cover from the bench? he'd be better on our bench than playing for Fulham or whoever

loaning players out again  have we learned nothing at all?
if he is to go then it has to be for a fee.

and what fee would you put on Downing? £6m ? £4m ?

Nothing less than £8mil

not sure, he'd probably shine in a another team like Fulham so maybe we'd get more like £6m for him?

6m after a season loan he would have 1 year left on his contract not going to happen

doubt it very much red.
more like 4 if we are lucky but even that will be stretching it because whats to say he wont bide his time and go on a bosman the year after. fulham will be well aware of this and so will downing so we wont have any cards to hold.
if we could as others suggest get 8 for him then snap their hand off but we wont and at this point 6 is probably the best we can hope for.
