However...        have we actually signed this Aspas yet or not? he had his medical yesterday didn't he?

i`m glad the likes of psg and monaco are buying up some of the big names, we wouldnt be in the race for their signatures anyway and it stops them going to chelsea, city and united.
redno7 - the echo is saying that the deal is basically done, the club and his representatives are just going over some aspects of his personal terms but the player is 100% committed to joining the club. just a matter of time.

Stopping the Mancs etc buying the players is good - hopefully that doesn't mean they switch to "under the radar targets" like Pappadoules etc

we`ve dragged that one out for so long arguing over an extra £4m-£5m it wouldnt surprise me if another club comes along and gives schalke want they want.

Yea that's exactly what I was thinking.  Although Spurs will do that regardless, just because we're in for a player.  Seriously, when was the last time we went after a player and Spurs didn't try to swoop? Even in Bellamy's bio he said 'Arry called him as he was getting of the chopper telling him not to sign for us for the second time. 

I guess it's always going to occur with Spurs at the moment because we are both prob in the market for the same player. I don't think it's as bad as suggested though but was highlighted with Sigurdsson and Dempsey - they took advantage of us stalling over money.

That's true, although off the top of my head they were in for Demspey, Sigurdson, Aspas, Suarez, Carroll, And rumored either Coutinho or Borini, I can't remember which one.

Although at this points papers probably just throw their name next to any Liverpool link as they assume there's a good chance it's true.

They never actually went in for Suarez ie bid for him - just inquired early on

The only two confirmed where the two players they bought - it wouldn't surprise me if the press just juicing up the gossip

That tw@t derrick llambas or whatever his name at newcastle confirmed that they bid 30 for Carroll, but harry denied it when Carroll didn't turn out so well.  At the same time Harry was adamant that he was fully interested in signing Suarez and knew it was a huge loss when he came here.  Of course, that was after Suarez turned out to be the player he is, so he may have just been trying to sound like he actually knows what he's doing in the transfer market for once.

And I guess Bellamy has confirmed in his bio that harry tried to hijack him from his second stint at Liverpool.

Maybe it's just f*cking harry.
