Coutinho wasn't relatively unknown at all - he had played regular football for top clubs around the world as well as being recognised by his country at various levels internationally.

It appears that BR can sign anyone and people aren't allowed to say anything negative !!

It's 9mil on a 25year old player who so far has achieved what sort of recognition ?!

I think the fee is being reported as 9mill Euro's not Sterling, so the fee is actually around £7mill

That doesn't make it much better really.

Don't see the point in writing anyone off until they're conclusively proven to be shabite, but expressing concerns based on a player's pedigree (and likewise considering the alternatives) is fair enough I think.

Is this fee of 9m set in stone? I thought that if celta go down then his release is half of that 4.5m euros. We would be bleeding idiots to spend 9m on this guy when we can get him for half when celta gets relegated. A very underwhelming signing if true. We could have got Erikson for that price who though not a striker is a quality player. Getting rid of downing on loan would be a joke. The guys not a world beater but he's a good, experienced player. If we loan him to Fulham, ill be fuming.

We wouldn't be able to get Eriksen for that price - he is going to cost around £15-20mil

over on rawk they reckon he`s going to dortmund for £10m, i dont think he has got long left on his contract so the fee is relatively cheap.
apparently eriksson is a lifelong liverpool fan (a proper one, not one of these players who just says it when they arrive here) and by all accounts he was practically imploring the club to sign him. once coutinho looked the real deal though we thought we needed to prioritise other area`s.

Well, that makes it 2 very questionable signings so early on. Cant say I'm excited about either Aspas or Toure.
I'm not quite sure Rodgers understands the pedigree of the club and the type of players we are capable of attracting based on the names we are signing/ are linked with.

Suarez is on his way out, and instead of making sure we sign top quality players to avoid what is increasingly seeming to become a disastrous summer, we go after Aspas ? Aspas ? Seriously ?!

cant say im wholly impressed with this signing at all but i wont write him off until he is at least given a chance. i can only hope rodgers has more faith in him than he has in borini.

a few papers (like the daily mail) are saying dortmund have put a £10m bid in for him, they reckon ajax will accept £13m.
that is well within our price range and it`s a joke that we are spending two thirds of that fee on a spanish lower league player.

Hard to disagree with that if true. Eriksen has long been touted as one of the best young players around and just the calibre of player we should be going for. If we let Suarez leave and don't show the ambition to sign players like him there's something far wrong.

not by my reckoning he doesnt.
he has had 2 bad injuries this year but when fit he still cant get a start and was overlooked for a 17 yr old against qpr. he went and paid 12 million quid for him and leaves him on the bench 98% of the time so no it does not look like he has any faith in the lad at all

Borini wasn't match fit though - nowhere near ready.

Borini was played when given the chance and fully fit.
