Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I actually agree with what you are saying but they are all romantic notions at best.

Abramovich will be turned down by just as many top managers as the ones he will attract, take a look at the long list of actual quality managers Cheatski have had since he has been owner? Outside of Rafa and to an extent Grant most their 'fans' have probably been quiet loyal to the rest. Didn't they sign a massive petition to keep Guus a view years back?  The rewards are high because the paycheck is the best on the planet and will continue to be. Regardless of our opinions, it will still keep bringing quality managers to that club and Citeh. As for your point on us becoming the "a club who supports its' manager and players that are motivated for the club and not only profit", it won't matter a single fkning iota if we can't provide regular CHAMPIONS LEAGUE football or challenge for titles, year in year out.

Chelsea and the likes of City WILL NOT FALL APART, while the rich Russian and Arabs are there. The only way that this will change (and these clubs do self implode) is if FIFA, UEFA and the FA come down on these fkers hard. And I'm not talking about this Financial Fair Play rubbish, which has been a load of bs from day 1. No I am talking about putting proper rules and regulations in place to stop these billionaire playboys from destroying the best sport in the world. This new era you talk about will NOT happen until such measures are taken. FSG actually have a solid strategy in place but the problem is the playing field and what needs to be done to even it. After the recent days of seeing the shambles that cycling is in after the Farce Armstrong saga, I can't help to think whether our great game will go the same way with its incompetence and corrupt mismanagement. You only need to look at FIFA and the awarding of WC2022 to Qatar to see what I am talking about.

I actually also agree with you. The reality of the world isn't lost on me at all and it's the reason I have stopped bothering contributing to this forum more often than not. I think most of the talking and hypothesizing has been done and we're all in wait and see mode. We have no other choice. I might be romantic in the statements I made above and honestly it's really only me trying to find an alternative positive rather than the continual negatives on here. I can't agree with anyone saying that removing FSG is the right option at this point, irrespective of whether they're the right group for us in the long term, I think the impact of another change could send us over the edge never to come back and it's something we can ill afford. I was just calling out what I perceive to be the improvements from a couple of years ago and how that positions us in relation to what is clear a mobile environment. Parameters are changing and those who were kings 5 years ago now are also facing major change.I think we'll all have a better idea after the next 2 transfer windows. They will reflect the path/the ambition and the timeline the club is looking at.

Looks like Soton have snapped P.Coutinho from Milan right under our noses all because we cannot meet their asking price. Coutinho is a player that fits their criteria, young, talented and good resale value and they are too stingy to fund the required sum to get his signature. So as we can all see, they are not the right owners to get the club back among the elite. Coutinho IMO would be a great addition to the squad, he's fast, great ball control skills, young, can score and yet FSG is not willing to pay the few extra million to get him. This is a repeat of the Dempsey saga again only worse because Dempsey is 29 and Coutinho is 20. FSG must sell to a richer and more generous owner, there's no future with them. FSG Please Leave!!!! We've had enough of your stinginess.

link?  latest reports were that So'ton did offer a higher bid but the player has no desire to go there and would prefer a move to LFC.

Bunch of drama queens you people are. It's like we've missed out on Gabriel Batistuta.
First you moan about how we're not spending enough money to get players, but when we do spend money and the players fail you bitch about why we spent those money. There is no pleasing you people!
The club is being careful with Countinho because we can't afford any more expensive flops.
I might be wrong about Countinho, he MIGHT turn out to be a good player, but it's not like we're after f*cking Neymar man! If the club says he ain't worth the money, then he ain't worth the money!

Early in January Nigel Adkins the then manager of Southampton indicated that he was indicated in Coutinho who was valued at £10m. We go in with a derisory and almost insulting offer of £5m and then proceed to mess about.
Net Spend Over The Last 5 Years 20/21 to 24/25  (10 years
are in brackets 15/16 to 24/25 )
LFC €300m (€420m)
Everton +€33m (€211m)
Arsenal €557m (€853m)
Spurs €571m (€684m)
Chelsea €945m (€1051m)
Man City €370m (€1038m)
Man United €687m (€1240m)

This young lad looks promising and only time will tell whether he will come out good or not. Nevertheless, the risk is not big. He didn't cost 35M

FSG out. How dare they not back the manager. Following up a £30 million net spend last season with a £40 million net spend this season and consistently outspending the teams around us? Tight fisted idiots are running this club into the ground.

Twitter rumour suggesting FSG gave held initial talks with a Quatari investor
about taking a stake in the club that would eventually lead to a full takeover.

Make of it what you will but usually a reliable source on the tweet circuit so
see if anyone else carrys the story in the coming days or weeks.

^^ hope the above is true tbh... and personally I cannot wait to see the back of FSG. They have farted around for too long and it's clear they don't have what it takes to take us forward. If it wasn't for Suraez god knows where we would be right now. Don't get me wrong I'm grateful for FSG from saving us from certain doom under H&G but we are stagnating under these lot.

I know people wont want to hear this but time to face facts. If we want top 4 we need some rich arab/oligarch to come in and put some serious money into the 1st team. It may not sit right with everyone but it's the only way that works. Arsenal used to be a nice example of what can be done when you spend wisely but look at them.

FSG OUT!

What I've seen tweets in reference to investment is simply related to Anfield re-development.  Nothing involving a takeover.  And in truth it makes sense.  Have an investor come in and fund the re-development, and keep allowing the money the club gererates to keep going into funding the squad.

i know these are all just twitter rumours to be taken with a pinch of salt, but if the rumours are true imo it`s not a great sign when owners need to bring someone else in to help finance the stadium redevelopment.
