Not sure if this is true BUT if it is, time to ask the owners to give us back our keys and f**k off back to the US.  :veryangry

20 million is nowhere near enough to getting any talent these days.......  :no

Sorry but it a red top rag.

Not even worthy to wipe your ***** with.

Tony Barrett (The Times, LFC TV, etc) seems the closest to the club of all the journalists, hasn't said a word on the matter.

Hence why I started with "Not sure if its true......."

Find it hard to believe that this would be our budget when mid to bottom table clubs have bigger purse strings then this.
"LIVERPOOL: 6 European Cups, 20 Domestic Titles, 3 UEFA Cups, 8 FA Cups, 10 League Cups and 4 European Super Cups and 1 Club World Championship

All other English clubs pale into insignificance!"

I'm pretty sure the 20 million quote originaly came from Tony Barrett at The Times in the article he did last week about our transfer targets. Bit worrying but I'm happy to wait and see as gross and net spend has been more than competitive since FSG took charge.

I honestly don't expect a bigger budget. 20 mil plus whatever Brendan gets from player sales is a reasonable budget. It's not much but I think it's enough. With the sale of Carroll and probably Skrtel we should have around 40 mil. 2 defenders and a midfielder is all we'll need IMO, and 40 mil should be enough to cover that.

That actually sounds sensible. The grief our owners get as soon as we have a poor result, which was as much down to the players as anybody, is unbelievable. I don't think they have ever once suggested that they are a registered charity. They are businessmen and who wasn't pleased to see them when they helped to get us out of the disgusting mess created by H & G. So far they have done absolutely nothing to suggest that they are not reasonable people. Substantial interest free loans to the club suggest they are very keen to succeed. Allowing the club to spend over £200m on players, and I don't care where it came from, also suggests they are not simply here for a very quick profit.

But unfortunatly our "rivals" will spend that on two players

And it's having to sell players to boost up our transfer budget - it's not really they type of financial backing required to take us up to the next level.

We need at the very least 2 CB's , a left back and a defensive mid. £20mil plus sales won't get you much these days.

And they haven't spent over £200mil on players

Money spent has been money generated by the club.

The are trying to suceed on a self sustain model

It doesn't work with the amount of income we produce especially without CL . They will need to get their hands in their pockets and develop the stadium.

The financial model they use won't work and they have put all their eggs into FFP and hoping clubs don't find loopholes in it.

They did great helping us out 2 years ago - now it's time for them to show us how serious they are about us.

FSG to the best of my knowledge own Liverpool FC. FSG have ALLOWED over £200m to be spent on players since they BOUGHT Liverpool FC. That is commitment. Of course some of the money has been generated by the club. The reality is that they did not have to spend as much as they have which has resulted in them providing meaningful and generous interest free loans. It is just a shame that some people find that a little bit too difficult to grasp.

They havent spent over £200mil on players

Suggest checking the fees of the players signed and then re evaluating the figure

This should help you

They havent spent a penny out of their own pockets bar the purchase of the club - money earned by the club is spent - its the same as what it was like under Moores - and he sold us because he knew that it wasnt enough to do that and we need stronger financially backing and an improved stadium

We require more than to just spend what we make - i think most people realise that but they will continue to do it via self sustainment and pay off debts.

With all this base negativeness, why don't we call it a day and shut the club?

Some folks will never be happy.

Hodgson spent £25m Dalglish £110m Rodgers £50m TOTAL £185m which I accept is slightly less than the £200m figure I previously quoted. The principal is the same. FSG did not have to spend the money. Who's money do you think the £185m that they spent actually belonged to? THEY OWN LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB SO IT IS BLATANTLY OBVIOUS TO A FIRST YEAR ACCOUNTANCY STUDENT THAT THE MONEY IS THEIRS. That unfortunately does not accord with your incredibly negative and depressing view of our owners. Why do you actually think they should start writing personal charitable cheques in favour of Liverpool FC? What is wrong with self sustainment? That is how you run a successful business.
