apparently coutinho is happy to accept liverpools terms and a 5 year contract but the hold up is between the clubs.
lets see our clubs ambition now or their lack of it :glare:

Todays Telegraph ,latest on Coutinho

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/liverpool/9822328/Liverpool-manager-Brendan-Rodgers-makes-improved-8-million-offer-for-Inter-Milan-midfielder-Philippe-Coutinho.html

Rodgers has increased his offer for the Brazil international after further negotiations with Inter over the past 48 hours and remains confident of striking a deal despite competition from Southampton.
Liverpool’s latest bid is expected to be their last and they are not prepared to enter into a bidding war with Southampton, who have offered £10 million.
Mauricio Pochettino, the new Southampton manager, worked with Coutinho at Espanyol last season and his club have agreed to meet Inter’s asking price for the 20-year-old.But it is believed Coutinho is not interested in a move to St Mary’s and Liverpool hope to agree a deal before the weekend.

Liverpool’s initial £6 million bid was rejected late last week but they have restructured their latest offer and agreed to pay an extra £2 million up front. Inter have been beset by financial problems and could find the promise of £8 million difficult to turn down.

Coutinho will require a work permit to seal a move to the Premier League and this week’s haggling means it is now unlikely he will make his debut against Oldham Athletic in the FA Cup on Sunday.
Earlier this week he had appeared to distance himself from a move to Anfield by insisting he wanted to stay and fight for his place but Liverpool remain hopeful of completing their second signing of this transfer window.

Liverpool have already signed Daniel Sturridge from Chelsea this month in a £12 million deal and are interested in Blackpool’s Thomas Ince, though not at the Championship club’s asking price.

Seems like we just need to cross a few T's and dot a few i's and he's a red ...................finally

Rumour is, we want Ashley Williams from Swansea.

I don't know what he's like as a central defender tbh.

But I do know, the bloke gets on my t.its with his egomaniac personality, always trying to raise his profile in the media by getting involved with things, like Suarez and that Hazard issue the other night.

Overrated player IMO. Don't see him as an improvement to our squad.

it`s not the first time that we`ve been linked with williams, last summer when the club were considering cashing in on agger it was rumoured that williams would be his replacement.
rodgers has done well recently, he`d do even better if he stopped trying to sign his mates

williams isnt a bad defender tbh but i agree with kenny that he is a knob.
the problem is though is he any better than agger or skyrtel? they are all the same age at 28 but neither danny or martin will be happy to make way for him.
he wont be cheap either and if rodgers was prepared to pay well over the odds for allen then we can expect the same for williams

I wouldn't want him to play ahead of Agger or Skrtel, and I'm sure he doesn't want to come and take Carra or Coates' place on our bench.

Makes no sense really.
