Rumour of the day - For the miserable tw@ts amongst you

Liverpool Football Club - The Rumour Mill

He's only ever going to get £250k a week at one of a handful of clubs....

City, Chelsea, PSG and some of those Russian and Chinese clowns.  None of those want him as far as I can see.

For half that I would like to dream that he would want to test himself in the best league in the world.  He can always go to China or Russia and earn what Eto earns once he turns 32.  He already will have more money than he could spend in a life time so I struggle to see the hardship in only earning £6.5m a year (£3.25m after tax).

He will have kit and sponsorship deals too so why not put playing in a decent league above silly money?

For the club, at say £125k a week, and a £8m fee he represents potential value for a world class player in his prime.  Merchandise and image right stuff would play heavily in the mix for both club and player too.

I am all for signing players at 23 and seeing them develop but we need a few older heads who are ready now.  Of those available, few would beat him as a signing.

A side with Gerrard, Suarez and Sneijder looks like top 4 to me.

erm how is that him subbing us, more like Rodgers not wanting him, in fairness we do have plenty of cover in that position so I do kind of understand it but he would have been a great signing.

bo!!ox, he's signing for southampton because they are willing to offer him a contract and we werent.
can you blame him? absolutely not.
if he was a good player that we fancied and thought he could do a job here then you sign him, his fee wasnt extortionate and his wage wouldnt have been either.
he has been linked with several clubs and for what ever reason we thought we could get him on a trial with a view to a move, il never know.
another fook up in my book.

Bit strange to ask an international player and brightest prospects in Norway for trial really and
I was surprised to see that to be honest.

As a player you want a club to really want you and show some faith and in away it was a bit of
an insult from us really and an extrodinary way to try and recruit a player.

I can understand giving some young kid a trial but a Norwegian international and player of the
year, he probably though they can ram it and set his sights elsewhere.

If I was the lad, for the sake of a week, I'd have waited. It would appear he didn't want to come to Liverpool.

If he'd gone to Chelsea or even Arsneal I could've agreed but he's gone to Southampton for a reason...  he's that good that Liverpool will only take him on trial and Southampton are the only other club to offer him a deal. therefore, I think we avoided another disaster there.

you obviously have never worked on contract then.
you secure the best deal for yourself bottom line because when its up you might not get a new one. this whole idea of going cap in hand looking for players is disgraceful and befitting of a club like southampton not liverpool.
if we had of decided after a trial that we didnt want him then what would he have done? i cant blame the player here as i would have done the same and so would you.

I agree, I would have done the same if I had one company offering me a contract and another offering a trial, I am getting a bit concerned about our transfer policy

guardiola has just announced that he will be going to the premier league in the summer. :nod
he said "as a player i couldnt realise my dream of playing there" he also said "i want to feel the supporters( :Oo: not literally i hope) ,environment, media and style of players".
he will be a great coup for whoever gets him and it has to be either s'hitty, manure or the chavs.
looking forward to seeing him here and what he has to offer in a different league.

That's him and Maureen "applying" for a job in the EPL this summer.  I can only hope one of them goes to Manure and replaces the drunken tool.

It is more likely they go to City and Chelsea, and Benitez goes to Real.
