Late sixties, driving an old beat up VW Beetle on a dirt road through some remote mountain pass in Cape Province South Africa. Don't know what they're like now but back then the battery in the VW's was under the back seat, held down by a few clamps. The road was so bad the restraining clamps snapped and unbeknown to me the battery was bouncing up and down with the terminals sparking against the springs and "horse hair" (?) under the back seat. First I knew about it was when I smelt something burning and looking in the rear view mirror all I could see was a dense cloud of smoke tainted with a hint of flame inside the back of the car.

It's with some f'ucked up sense of pride I can say that without braking I've actually jumped from a burning vehicle  !   :wwww

OK, I was probably only doing about 15 mph at the time but it felt pretty full on to me.   :D

Closest I've come to owning a French car is the electric pepper mill made by Peugeot in my kitchen.

Downings' decision making is driving me nuts. Even today against non league opposition he still manages time and time again to choose the wrong option. He may have some skill but deffo lacks a brain cell or two   :veryangry

I have been screaming at the telly and now have a sore throat because of him
I wonder if he will watch this game afterwards and think: "I should have stopped being such a sh'ithouse and tore these amateurs a new ar'sehole"
I very much doubt it
What a cu'nt

i thought downing did okay myself, he worked hard and was up and down the line all game on a heavy pitch and you only have to look at wisdom cramping up to see how much hard work that is.
that wasnt the type of surface that suits players who like to travel with the ball so it`s no surprise he over ran it a few times and his final ball went astray once or twice.

Once again flattered to deceive
Brings nothing to the table, wastes valuable time and never uses the space available.
Utter sh'ithouse and possibly, because of his potential and experience, one of the worse players I have ever seen in a Red shirt
Gutted hes playing for us

Downing is ok against Championship or the rags of the Premiership. Doesn't tackle. Doesn't take on his man and go for the line to cross the ball. Plays far to many weak and ineffective crosses into the box. Has been better since BR said he could go. After yesterday I can't see many top clubs rushing for their cheque books!

he didnt have a good game yesterday but he wasnt alone on that score (allen, lucas, sterling etc)
even the defence, the first goal was a bad one to concede as united didnt really open us up, it was just a bog standard cross defended poorly and as for the second goal, a pub team would be embaressed to concede that.

he'll probably end up back at 'boro for 5 million in the summer. Dreadful player who shouldn't have been signed for us
