And I guess Lucas is second rate ?!

Lucas is better than Skrtel, Agger and Johnson.

This is an interesting all new system you have come up with.

If Allen is second rate then I want more like him - hungry 22 years olds with the drive and desire to improve with us. I will take those players at half the price and half the wage over your late 20 "first rate " players.

What difference does it make what Allen cost ?

You are showing how clueless you are Richard by calling him "second rate"

So is Lucas still second rate ?

Your Messi question is irrelevant because the situation will never happen that Messi will become available let alone for £20mil - Every single club would want Messi if they could afford him.

The owners will only pay money at the right prices and no more over inflated fees and big wages .

Our target for players will be the young highly rated players with potential or a little bit of expirience ! Forget the 27 year old players at over £20-30 mil - it's not going to happen.

Allen cost 15 million

that is more than we spent on Xabi Alonso in 2004 at the same age.

Thats the reason why it matters how much we paid for Allen as you said and i have quoted. Half the price. We have NEVER spent 30 Million on a Midfielder before.

Are you also alright with the Henderson Fee wasnt he around the same amount and he was younger?

You have no idea what the owners are planning to do with their money so stop pretending that you do. FAce it you were wrong about saying Yilmaz was a young player. You also questioned someone when they but the Bent idea forward saying Suarez has scored more goals than him. Well I think Suarez is the top scorer in the league only RVP or Ba could have scored more so we must limit ourselves to them two but then again we DONT spend money on late twentys.

Your Messi question is irrelevant because the situation will never happen that Messi will become available let alone for £20mil - Every single club would want Messi if they could afford him.

But again you put yilmaz forward as a possible target

Contradiction alert.

Gents your missing the point of this thread,

Here we find stupid web sites full of ***** and then copy and paste.

We then live in hope there is something in it.

After which time we sign someone that does not quite result in collective joy

Start a thread in the main topic about said player

Someone will say we could have signed X or Y

Someone will say "give hgim a chance"

Someone will post a youtube video.

Allow me to start.

Liverpool linked with a sensational swoop on Chelsea
p

Liverpool have joined Juventus in the race to land Chelsea left back Ashley Cole, who is expected to leave the Blues at the end of the season.

Reports out of Italy are claiming that both Liverpool and Juventus are monitoring the Cole situation who has apparently refused to accept a one year extension to his contract on offer from the Stamford Bridge board.

Cole is still regarded as one of the best left backs in the world, if not the best, and it is somewhat surprising that Chelsea are not prepared to offer a world class player a contract longer than one year, however it is well known that the policy at Chelsea for players over the age of 30 is to offer just one year extensions.

Liverpool may want Cole, but it is hard to see the 31 year old England international joining the Anfield giants, they are very unlikely to be able to offer Champions League football and for a player basically brought up on elite European football it would be a downgrade to join Brendan Rodgers men.

If it is just between Liverpool and Juventus then the chances are that Cole will be playing in Serie A next year, but other clubs will surely come in, thus providing Cole with more options.

1. Yilmaz will not cost a fortune unlike the player you mentioned Soldaldo. Yilmaz could cost under £10mil

2. The owners stated their transfer policy in the letter to the fans - they will not compromise the clubs finances - Henry stated in an interview we are paying CL wages for players when we aren't in the CL - he wants it to stop.

3. Alonso was bought 8 years ago for £10mil - 8 years ago that was a very big fee.

4. Allen cost £15 mil - for his quality on the continent add an extra £10mil - we had to pay that for a clause and the owners did because 1. It was a player BR wanted 2. He is young with his full career ahead of him. Yet you are calling him "second rate" . The club will continue to buy players like Allen and Borini and Assaidi and hopefully Sahin - players in their early 20's.

5. Bent is not the type of striker that will fit into the team play we are trying to implement at the club

So if Rodgers wanted Wilfred Zaha we would pay 15 million.

If Rodgers wanted him then it's very possible the owners would sanction the signing within a reasonable price

These are the sort of players we will be looking at

Liverpool are keeping tabs on Dutch striker Jurgen Locadia after the 18-year-old scored a hat-trick on his debut for PSV Eindhoven.

The youngster netted three times in 11 minutes on his Eredivisie bow during a 6-0 defeat of VVV Venlo.

Liverpool desperately need reinforcements after being reduced to having just one striker, Luis Suarez, available since Fabio Borini was sidelined for three months.

The Italian international, who arrived from Roma for £10.5m in the summer, will undergo surgery after fracturing his foot while away on Under-21 duty.

Suarez is expected to start the weekend's Premier League game against Reading, despite a long haul flight returning from South America for Uruguay's World Cup qualifying.

Manager Brendan Rodgers will be praying that Suarez can steer clear of injury for the next 12 weeks, especially after loaning out England striker Andy Carroll to West Ham for the rest of the season.

The Reds will continue to monitor Locardia in their search to increase their options when the transfer window re-opens in January.

Heard from two different sources that BR is interested in taking Shane Long as one of two out-and-out strikers in January. Wst Broms' Long scored 8 Premier League goals last season and has 2 goals and three assists from 5 starts so far this season. His style of play fits into BR's philosophy, chases everything and could be available for between £6-8M. Good impact player with a lot of heart, low wages and signing fee - I think it sounds like a great deal if possible.

Shane Long certainly seems ok to me - good option at a decent price.
