Why is bent seemingly automatically linked to us during every transfer window?  Can't stand the guy...

Darren Bent...     App 303      goals 148

lowest amount of goals in a  season...    18

thats why, right there. he knows where the goal is.

And currently sits on the bench for villa because he can't contribute to the game , he scores penalties and plays of the shoulder of the last defender. He isn't suited to a passing style team

He's played in all 7 league games so far and scored 3 goals.

So scored less than Suarez then

And plays as a sub

He isn't suited to a passing team - he thrives on long balls thumped over the top. Stats don't show that

And Downing played in X games for Villa and assisted in x goals, same for Adam, Henderson ect...

We need to set our sights higher guys. I've had enough if mid table shoddy players who have no place putting on the red shirt. I'm all for buying home grown talent but if they are not good enough for the likes of the teams above us then why do people think they would be good enough for us.

I agree, he scores goals but is hardly a dynamic striker.

The style we are playing under Rodgers will provide goal scoring opportunities that are very diverse. We aren't a direct side, Bent scores goals when supplied directly. I have serious doubts he would perform under Rodgers style of play.

Transfer window wouldnt be the same without

Darren Bent being linked.

Someone mentioning Torres.

Someone trying to get Fowler back.

Us buying a goal keeper

Mlepa, Zeefuik, Isco, Rodrigo, Hooper, Yilmaz, Sturridge

Just a selection of highly rated youngsters with bright futures

Sturridge would work but I am not sure he would go for the loan option. Seems to be that we would only look to sign Sturridge on loan with an option to buy in the summer.

Ok take Yilmaz out of the young potential category.

not keen on sturridge either, he looked phenominal coming through the ranks at city and on loan at bolton but since his move to chelsea his career seems to have stalled somewhat, if not even gone backwards.
from the outside looking in he looks like someone who has fallen out of love with the game, i dont know if the politics at chelsea have worn him down or what but everytime i see him play he looks like someone playing with the weight of the world on their shoulders or someone going through the motions to me.
i`m not convinced his style of play will ever allow him to be prolific anyway, too many flicks and drag backs when he has an opportunity to pull the trigger. his all round game is just too `loose` imo, he`s always attempting things that have little or no chance of coming off even when he has other options available around him.
in todays paper it does say that chelsea are prepared to let him go so no doubt we`ll be one of the clubs interested.
hooper apart i`ve never even heard of any of those other players benny mentioned, then again i`ve never played that FIFA game or that footy manager game or whatever it`s called.
