Henchoz, looked composed and steady against Millwall.

It's amazing how we all watch the same games and see things differently.

I thought Henchoz distribution was terrible.  He gave away possession nearly as much as Diao.

Rafa wants his teams to play from the back.

Also, he turns like an oil tanker - slow.

Spud, couldn't comment on his distribution, I was watching in a pub with music on in the background so you don't get the best environment for taking an analytical view. However, part way through the game it just occured to me that Henchoz, did not seem to be doing any harm to his re-sale value with his defensive work. A lot of Millwall aggression seemed to run into his bulky frame and he just took it all with a certain composure and stood firm.

henchoz isn't good enough for us, remember this is millwall, division 1 standard, and you could tell by the finishing of their striker up front

Redrider, good point ref re-sale value.  He's not going to make it back.  He's been a loyal guy and maybe we could get a few bob for him?
The other dissapointment for me was Mellor, wow, he's got no chance.

Cool, don't knock the boys just because they were only playing Div 1 Millwall.
The Millwall forwards were a rough handful for Henchoz and Whitbread, fired up by Dennis Wise and the home crowd at the Den. Bit of a tough baptism for young Zak, bet he appreciated having an old hand like Henchoz alongside him for the night. I say well done the boy's.

At this point I do not know. Whether Finnan or Josemi play it does not matter to me, as long as one of them get the job done on the pitch.

Presuming we don't purchase anymore players in January (though I expect we will) our best line up of fully fit players would be

Kirkland

Riise
Hyypia
Carragher
Josemi

Luis Garcia
Gerrard
Xabi Alonso
Nunez

Cisse
Baros

Luis Garica is not a midfielder. I don't agree with playing players out of position.

He's also a better player than Baros.

Code: Select all
                   Cisse
Kewell       Luis Garcia        Nunez
         Alonso         Gerrard
Riise   Hyypia       Carragher  Finnan
                 Kirkland

If Nunez is no good then Finnan right midfield and Henchoz at centre half with Carragher playing on the right.

personally i prefer josemi to finnan as he is better defensively but is also no slouch getting forward, give him some time and i think he could turn into a good quality right back

Finnan for me, mainly because Josemi's a new arrival and clearly won't be sold just because he's not playing. If we can get some serious competition for the RB slot, then it'll hopefully bring the best out of both of them.

One thing's for sure, Finnan has improved significantly this season, has shown great versatility, and frankly Benitez would be a fool to think of selling him on at this stage.

Garcia has played much of his career in midfield either on the right or left he played like this at Tenerife for Benitez.
