SKY interviewed Laudrup and didn't really give anything away but said he would have to speak with the player after the Olympics.
Nothing will happen before then.

From SportingLife:

"Barnsley are poised to add exciting winger Toni Silva to their ranks on a free transfer"

I always thought he looked like a good prospect.

them asking £15m for joe allen shows what they think we are.

15 million is a snip in today's market for a midfielder with Allens talent ,but I have a terrible feeling Spurs or Untied will come into the
equation sooner or later though ....

I mean who can blame Swansea and Laudrup for asking for a decent price ? Joe Allen is pivotal to their midfield the veritable fulcrum of their side.
Laudrup will try to replace him ,but he must know that the lad is real quality and his exit could leave a chasm the size Gareth Barry left in Villas
midfield when he left for City .....

in the interview i saw with laudrup on sky it seemed to me that he wanted allen to go so he could get the money. he said with such a `big money` offer the club and the player had to seriously consider what they were going to do.
laudrup knows that he could take that money and get just as good a player if not better one from la liga, a division he knows very well.
spurs and united wont go for allen mate, united are too busy trying to sign van persie and spurs have moutinho lined up as modric`s replacement, they are shopping in harrods mate

If we sign m he will be class.

He is exactly the type of midfielder that we have been crying out for.
Someone who demands posession and isnt afraid to burst forward and commit men.

I think the lad will be loved.

The only issue for me is we need to get rid of players in that area.

I know you really dont rate Spearing at all mate but i would keep him as a squad player.
Players like him are good to come in and do a job.
The problem we have had over the last couple of seasons is he has played far too often.

Cole
Adam
Aquilani i think will be the players that Rodgers will be looking to offload.

I rate him less than that mate ,I just think Spearing against any kind of composed midfield is toothless . I mean OK the likes of Toronto he can just
about cut the mustard ,but put him up against any quality DM and he makes us look ridiculous .... I'm not being funny mate ,but teams last season
took the piss when they seen his name on our team sheet .

There were games last season where he really struggled.
Spurs at home for one, but i dont think he is anywhere near as poor as you do.

Like i said, i would keep him as a squad player.
He's probably not on very much wage wise and wouldnt fetch much money if we sold him on either.

How old is he now ?

I think that's a lot of money considering his last 2 seasons.

I suppose poor would be stretching it a bit ,I don't ordinarily  like to slag any reds players ,and last season if Spearing had a good game I was the first to
say so ,but its just when he is struggling against quality opposition so severely it  reflects on the club badly ....I mean never in a million years should he
be considered as a player good enough to  step into Liverpool's midfield or for that matter Lucas's boots .

Honestly mate we wont start making genuine progress under Rodgers until the laughing from rival fans stops ,and if that means getting shot of distinctly
average players then the likes of Spearing and Cole  need to go. ..

allen has played most of his career in the lower league`s, he has only played 39 top flight games.
it`s a big gamble to spend so much money on someone with so little top flight experience, especially when it looks like we are skint.
over the years there have been hundreds of footy players who have burst onto the scene in a blaze of glory but then their careers just peter out.
when that seth johnson first arrived on the scene he was being hailed the future captain of england and look at that michael johnson at city who was being called the next steven gerrard etc
at the moment allen is in his comfort zone playing in familiar surroundings for his hometown club, a club with practically zero expectations, he`ll get a culture shock when he gets here, the liverpool shirt is the heaviest shirt in english football, add that to a £15m price tag and there`s a lot of pressure on him.
i think we need a defensive midfielder but £15m is a ridiculous price.
