I think that formation makes a lot of sense. I suppose there is an urgency to buy Allen because we don't know if Lucas will be fit in time, Gerrard's fitness really can't be counted upon these days, Aquilani's fitness I can't say. It might be a preemptive move as well, because the future doesn't have gerrard, aquilani, adam written on it. It'll surely be about henderson, allen, lucas, shelvey.

I can't find anything on Sky Sports News Website regarding Allen, where was this reported? I'm hoping it's true though as he's a good player and is more dynamic than any of our other midfielders playing in the centre

For God sake, if we're going to sign average players we should at least do it like Newcaslte or Everton do it; sign them cheaply, not for bloody 15 mill! I'm not saying that there is no way that Allen could be a good player for us, but the chances for this are 50:50, and Allen has not done enough to have a 15 mill price tag! I'd pay 10 at max for him.

If anyone is to blame for that price (assuming it's correct and even goes ahead) it's us for paying 35mil for Carroll, 20mil for downing and 16Mil for Henderson.

I was speaking to 2 Swansea fans in town last night.

They were raving about Rodgers and Joe Allen.

They said the Allen deal is as good as done as well, not sure where they have heard it though.

But if you have paid over the odds in the past then teams selling to you will be more inclined to hold out for more no? Works both ways.

No that is exactly what has happened. Numerous sources have reported that Swansea set their valuation of Allen on the transfer fee of Henderson. They see Allen as equivalent potential.

Now I think that rationale is a little unfair as Henderson had played more PL mins that Allen before moving. You could argue he had more experience. Needless to say I'm sure FSG will drive harder bargains moving forward.

yeah i suppose your right, if they think we are a bunch of soft ****`s they are going to ask for ridiculous amounts.
them asking £15m for joe allen shows what they think we are.
