Cole is our past - 30 year old on 90 grand a week with fu.cked knees
I would rather look to the future than those two or are our past IMO
Yes I was disappointed with the appointment - I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one - BUT hopefully this will sink in now to people I'm more than willing to give him my full support as soon as he gets started and I will support him for as long as he is manager ( unless he gets us into a relegation dog fight then questions would need to be asked ) and he needs more time than a lot of our fanbase will give
I will say this again for you because it seems some are either blind or too thick to understand
" I AM NOT WRITING OFF BRENDAN RODGERS"
I am worried about the coming season and how it will go , I'm worried about the players we will attract , I'm worried about the players we can lose and most of all I am worried that in 12 months time people like 7 Kewell will be shouting for another manager to be sacked because the manager couldnt reach the unrealistic expectations placed on him. The new manager needs more than one season but I worry he won't get that.
As for the mediocre comment - it is the truth - we were mid table last season and we have appointed a manager who was also mid table - until otherwise proven we are currently mediocre - I worry it stays that worry and I'm not going to apologise for worrying about a club I have supported longer than some on here have been alive. I'm certainly not deluded enough to think that all our problems suddenly disappeared the minute Kenny was sacked and Rodgers appointed.
It's now up to Rodgers to prove the doubters wrong , to wipe away any worries and he will be support - I will be cheering my voice raw the minute the season starts in support.
I understand your concerns but when the MD says that they have spoken to well informed people in football about appointing Rodgers I believe him. I don't believe that these owners or the club would do anything risky in either the short term or the long term. It's early days but I think the team will improve under Rodgers.
On Carroll it looks like the new manager likes him so he has time to keep improving and developing.
It is very early days.
He did well at Swansea after disappointing at Reading and being sacked
But going to Liverpool is different - he is speaking very well at the moment but it will be his actions that will count.
I agree that it is his actions that will count. I would rather have Rodgers in charge than Martinez given that in each of the three seasons that Martinez has been at Wigan they've been in a relegation fight the whole season and not really improved. Swansea adjusted to the premiership very well and that was largely down to their former manager.
Provided he can step up to working with better players than he had at Swansea I think he'll do well.
