Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Hi lads ..

I would just like to compare lfc last season and this season . I think the main difference is that the team now is playing with high technique contratry last year where the physical side was the dominant thing and that was Mr. houllier main aim in every transfer he did (excep. Diouf) . Rafa always look for skillful players who can produce moments of brilliance. The midfield this season is dominating while last year our midfield was all about Stevie G. and when he  was having a bad game our answer was the ineffective long balls and that was the main reason why we had a very bad home record for a big team . last season we noticed than we couldnt create chances against defensive teams while now we see that even against good teams we can produce at least 3 or 4 opportunities . Rafa this summer had 3 signings , 2 of them was Alonso and Garcia who are very skillful midfielders and very creative and who can really win a game which was absent last year . Missing Michael Owen was a very disappointing for the club and made life ever harder for Rafa because i see that if he was with us we would had 4 or 5 points more in the League . At last , we are a very tactical team this season and a very agressive one too , i know we are not the best yet but if we continue our progress in the same way with adding 2 to 3 new signings we will the team we were 15 years ago .
Thank u
YNWA

Great to us playing attacking soccer again.

1)We were good in attack & weak in defence during roy evans' time
2)We were good in defence & weak in attack during houllier's time

Now under rafa, we starting to look good in both departments  :D .

Maybe Rafa needs to learn the hairdryer treatment on the lads so that they get so scared of him during the half time talk that they won't dare to miss chances or guys like Baros will always centre the ball...

So the stats say we are doing better as well as the team looking better!
Considering we still have a long way to go, the short space of time that Rafa has been here we have shown good progression!

Nuff said for the time being i think

For myself, I think the main difference between this year and last year team is we look more sure against other lower team this season. Last season, our performance fluctuate alot. Also, its more entertaining and enjoyable to watch. Hope this will continue.:D
