First off, I don't want Martinez to go due to the last three months of the season. To beat all the top clubs and break so many records doing so was amazing, so I want to see if he can do that over the whole season.
I believe it has taken him three seasons to get us to this position and a fealing that next season we could push on, with players like Moses etc signing new contracts.
The problem Liverpool will face, if you see it as that, is Martinez insisting on a certain type of play. This is great when accomplished, but to get to that stage will and does take a long time. Would Roberto Martinez get three years free to build his own team and style?
Before Roberto can manage a team like Liverpool, he needs to go further with Wigan. If next season Wigan perform all season like they end the season, then I would say go for it, he's learned.
To be honest with you, a lot of Wigan fans had been wanting him sacked before he turned it around. Some horrendous results including 8 and 9 goal humiliations were the lowest point of my time as a supporter. Paul Jewell and Steve Bruce had Wigan in the top 10, until Roberto Martinez at least emulates that he cannot be considered for a job like Liverpool. 8 years in The Premier League means Roberto has been responsible for less than half our Premiership life and every one under him has been a relegation fight.
I would find it so strange if he did get The Liverpool Job, I really would.
If he does become the Liverpool manager I certainly wouldn't hold it against him, couldn't turn that opportunity down. Turning down Villa is one thing, but Liverpool is something else.
Good luck who ever you get

Martinez won 4 games in 6 months
Kenny won 4 league games in 4 and half months. Not much better really, especially when you consider the players he had at his disposal where much better.
