i dunno mate, capello did well when he went back to madrid and toshack managed madrid on 3 seperate occasions. it happens quite a bit abroad.
cant see rafa coming back though, for a start ayre seems to be in the owners good books and he was part of that cabal of purslows that got rid of benitez in the first place for finishing 6th and replaced him with a darling of the press who left us 4 points off relegation.
no wonder we are in the state we are in.
plus because the owners only started watching footy about 3 years ago they want a DoF in place, they want their own man in there, benitez has forgotten more about footy than any DoF knows so how long do you think it would be before rafa told the DoF to f***** do one.
i agree what others have said, we`ll get a yes man, a AVB or martinez someone like that.
i can hardly be @rsed with it all now, especially after yesterday, kenny gone for a yes man.

Its what these owners wanted all along though.  I don't think they ever really wanted kenny but they had little choice due to Roy being so poor and the fan demands.  Once Kenny did well when he returned they had to appoint him.

They want a young manager.  I think they believe the DOF role is more important than the manager.

The one vivid memory from Henry's first interview on LFC TV was that he said something like...

Judge us on what we do, not what we say.

This statement means they have just put themselves under a heap of pressure.  With no management structure within the club at all right now, and our squad in need of reinforcement, they need to move quickly and wisely.

With the Euros a few weeks away, all of our competitors will be scouting and signing players from here on in.  If they pi$$ about until late June appointing people then once again we are feeding on scraps and will no doubt sign the likes of Dempsey and Darren Bent.  That leads to another mid table finish no matter who the manager is.

This is a major cross roads for the club, and it needs to be a demonstration of FSG's intent for LFC.  Top class appointments, followed by serious and credible investment in a number of players to allow us to challenge for top 4 at least is their minimum obligation now.  The next few weeks may well shape the next decade for our club.

The difference between you and him obviously Reg.

honesty.

Jeez stalker, you have the mental age of an unborn child.

That maybe so, all in your opinion of course. But at least my morals and Kenny's for that matter don't lie in the dingiest darkest depths of the gutter.

Take your time and think carefully about the answer please?

I still don't think that this is what they wanted. I have the feeling that Kenny painted himself into a corner and left them with a v. black and white decision to make and it backfired. Based on the way he has been reacting to the press etc I don't think it is too far a stretch of the imagination. I just wished that they'd had a cooling off period first before announcing.

I think the only real and fair answer here is that we don't actually know who they are considering at the moment and time will tell. If they do go for the likes of those being bandied around, then it'll add to the disgrace.

Generally in these situations it goes to someone that noone has their eye on and I am shitt1n it  that Mark Hughes is going to find his way into the club. I am a Welshman myself, but for me, that's the stuff of nightmares.

Stephen Martin ‏@stephen1martin
Kenny gets offered 'resignation package' in USA, he turns it down and comes back, he's offered better package, refuses that too, fired.

I saw that yesterday also.

Surely there are no surprises there, he was never going to resign. We all though he deserved another season and clearly he thought the same.

The difference with Kenny is he has the class to take a decision against him respectfully. FSG disagreed with Kenny, which is their prerogative, and terminated his contract with diginity.

if Rafa comes back and he gets us to two cup finals and wins ones but we end up 8th in the prem, would the Rafa fans turn on him like they did on Kenny?

Getting Rafa back is just a bad idea. I love Rafa and I know he loves us but I remember his man management, approach to games and bizarre substitutions and team selections. There's still doubt as to whether he could be a success here but if he's not we sack another man with a strong association to Liverpool FC. I'm fairly certain the Yanks will avoid putting themselves in such a position
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

we forget easily, that is human nature. as time go past, memories fade, that is why disasters that can be avoided happens again and again.
turn back the time to Rafa's last season with us, we were playing terrible terrible football and losing and losing. you can just feel that the whole team had given up, captain fantastic had given up and Rafa lost the dressing room. and 90% of us were shouting for Rafa to be sacked and when he was finally sacked our club's future suddenly look brighter.

now some of us here want a repeat of the following.

Oh the horror for Lakes if Rafa comes back

Well if Rafa spent 110 million and finished 8th from the previous 6th finish, maybe FSG wouldn't be impressed either...

When has it looked brighter since he left?  When Roy took over?
We haven't gotten as many points in the league since that season either.

I personally think we've gone far backwards since Rafa left.

I don't think 90% wanted Rafa sacked.....

I certainly don't think his sacking and the appointment of Roy Hodgson suddenly made the club's future look brighter........

But I hasten to add , this does not mean I believe Rafa is the man to return to the dreaded hot seat...
