If his name was Albert Smith then perhaps, but as his name is Alberto Aquilani, no chance!

Watch quite a lot of Serie A, and the biggest mistake Rafa made was overestimating the player.. and the league he played (now plays) in. At Roma he was an in and out player... and exactly the same is happening at Milan. The fact there aint many suitors out there speaks volumes. I remember seeing the highlight reel when we signed him and posted a comment on youtube that this gives a terribly false impression of the player. Cram anybodies best bits into 3 minutes you can make them look like the second coming. Show 45 minutes of him strolling around not getting involved much, thats a more accurate reel. That he was injured just made the signing that bit more inexplicable. When he can be arsed (which is rare) he can ping a 70 yard pass to feet.. and i can only think Rafa saw him as some sort of replacement for Xabi. Huge misjudgement.

Can you name one game, any game which Aquilani played for us and strolled around for 45 minutes?

His problems have always been his injuries. If he wants to play footie for us I'll gladly have him back. We need someone with a footballing brain in the centre to deliver those crisp passes.

Sell the little bollix for whatever we can get for him and consign him to the same bucket as all the other donkeys we've had over the years.....

I liked him pre-season however if he can't last a whole season in Serie A without injury what chance would he stand in the Prem?

i dont think he was or has been injured this season for milan.maybe a game of 2 with a knock but nothing serious or long term.
this situation isnt about that and more about the fact that milan know we dont want him and want him for next to nowt.he has sat on the bench the last 4 games despite being fit and this reason is down to the fact they dont want him to play the agreed amount of games as they would then have to purchase for the fee agreed.
anyway kenny states he is disapointed for the lad but will take him back along with cole who has had a great season with lille but they dont want to pay his silly wages either and that could be a stumbling block.
my worry is that if all this deadwood return it will surely impact on our business in the transfer market.

Door open for Alberto Aquilani Liverpool FC return - Kenny Dalglish

KENNY DALGLISH says the door is open for Alberto Aquilani to return to Liverpool FC this summer.

The Reds boss insists the Italy international would be welcomed back at Melwood if AC Milan don’t take up their option to buy the midfielder.

The Serie A outfit are committed to signing Aquilani for £5million if he plays 25 matches this season.

However, Milan’s interest in keeping him has cooled and that clause is unlikely to be activated.

Aquilani has made 16 starts but with each of his 12 substitute appearances only counting as half a game he remains three games short of the agreed total.

The 27-year-old is currently out of favour and was left on the bench throughout Milan’s 1-0 win over Genoa on Wednesday. With only four league matches to go he appears increasingly likely to rejoin the Reds’ squad for the 2012/13 campaign.

“I haven’t had any discussions with Milan,” Dalglish said. “I haven’t been looking at how many matches he’s played. He still might play another three so we will wait and see.

“But if they don’t activate the clause then Alberto will be coming back here because he’s our player.

“If Milan don’t want him it’s disappointing for the boy but we’ll have him. It’s not a problem.”

Skipper Steven Gerrard is set to return for the Reds’ trip to Norwich City tomorrow after missing last weekend’s defeat to West Brom with a tight hamstring.

However, Charlie Adam won’t play again this season due to the knee injury he suffered at QPR last month. The Scottish midfielder doesn’t need surgery but a specialist says more rest is required to allow the ligament damage to heal.

Dalglish has told Great Britain football officials to forget about considering Adam for the Olympic Games in July.

“Steven is fine, no problem,” Dalglish added. “We said it was just a precaution and he’s been back training this week.

“Charlie doesn’t need an op but he won’t play again this season. If they had any designs on having him in the Olympics I wouldn’t have thought he will be fit for that.”

Adam and Lucas are the only absentees and Dalglish is likely to rotate his players for the two Premier League games (Norwich tomorrow, Fulham home on Tuesday) prior to next Saturday’s FA Cup final against Chelsea.

I have always been a big admirer of Alberto's talent ,as soon as he came to Liverpool it was apparent that he was a special player, and the
Kop were genuinely excited by the influence he could have on games .

However it remains an enigma why Benitez never played the lad more ,especially when you take into consideration the amount of passes he
made, and the number of assists he made throughout  the course of a game .

I for one would gladly take Aquilani back ,and I personally couldn't believe that after enjoying a sparkling pre-season were he was one of our most
impressive players he was put on loan to usher in players the calibre of Poulsen.

He's got no future at Liverpool, we dont want him and he doesnt want to be here.  This is the same political talk that seems to happen every year now.  We send him on loan, the other club doesn't want him, we put him in the shop window in pre season and he goes off for another ridiculous loan.

Fantastic player when fit though.

Pretty much sums it up for me.  I can't imagine there's a lot of genuine enthusiasm on the part of both the player and the manager for a Liverpool return and without that, it'll never work.

no one can say he wouldnt have had an impact here this season and tbh we could have done with him.
alonso wasnt a success in his first season here either and look how he turned out so it will always leave me wondering if aqua could have been the same.
last season he was good in the preseason matches and then was the time for kenny to throw the arm around him and make the lad believe he could be a part of his plans but he didnt and we make excuses that its the player who didnt want to be here.
he wouldnt have signed a 5 year contract if he didnt want to be here for that.we lost faith in him after the 1st and then loaned him out to anyone that would take him for the next 3 and with a year left id be really surprised if he could be ar$ed giving his all for us next season and will more than likely end up having his contract terminated or let go for virtually nothing.
