what potential? Thats a nothing answer. Ngog has potential, Insua has potential, for years we heard Emile Heskey has potential (our best period when Heskey was at the club was when we displaced him with Anelka in Jan 2002 and for the next 5 months destroyed teams.. Leeds 4-0, Ipswich 6-0 and 5-0, Newcastle 3-0, and finished 2nd)
This is a baseless assessment. This "potential" can be labelled at everyone. To have baseless hope on a player with no pedigree is appalling. Hes 23 in 6 weeks, is he magically going to show something that no one has ever seen from him?
He made his debut over 5 years ago and (removing his year in the 2nd tier) he has 18 goals in the Premiership (4 of those with us). But the worst thing is he CAN become a player who gets 13 or 14 per season AT THE DETRIMENT to the entire team. For him to get those 13 to 14 goals means us playing long ball, swinging in crosses. Totally against the pass and move ethos, totally alien to Suarez, Maxi, Bellamy and co. who play the ball on the deck, totally alien to trophy winning teams of the last 25 years. We are accomodating a player, and style, that makes us worse, and makes any chance of titles go out the window. Possession is king, carving up opponents with fluid play is the method any top team aspires. This is also why the signing makes no sense, hes not a Kenny Dalglish player (pre his Newcastle Andreas Andersson signing of course).
And as for criticising our "golden boy" Suarez, the desperation has sunk to new levels. He is virtually man of the match in every game we play. He carves up opponents for fun and only yesterday TWICE pulled the ball back for the donkey.
