Your 10 favorite signings of the modern era

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby RedSi35 » Thu Sep 08, 2011 9:31 pm

Who are your top 10 players who have been bought into the club, say over the past 20 years ( if you have been around that long ), but modern era if you havent.

We can all name the legends, but who are the players who in your opinion have really proved their worth.

Mine ( not in any particular order )

1 - Rob Jones
2 - Luis Suarez
3 - Dietmar Hamman
4 - Gary McAllister
5 - John Barnes
6 - Xabi Alonso
7 - Luis Garcia
8 - Sami Hyypia
9 - Dirk Kuyt
10 - Danny Murphy

Probably would of had Torres in there until he went judas on us, so he is excluded via rule 1.2............ie a kunt.

Hyypia has to be number one for me. easily one of the best centre backs in the premier league era and an absolute snip at £2.6m. We've never replaced him.

No particular order:

Hyppia
Henchoz
Alonso
Litmanen
Suarez
Torres
Hamann
Mcallister
Riise
Reina

May raise a few eyebrows but I was born in 85 so I started following LFC during one of it's worst periods in the early 90's. Evans had us playing some class football and I'm convinced if we had defenders the quality of what we had during the treble season we would have won the prem in 96.

Some very good calls and I guess the guys who have been so hard to replace should dominate.

1 - Graham Souness
2 - Stevie G
3 - Dietmar Hamman
4 - Gary McAllister
5 - John Barnes
6 - Xabi Alonso
7 - Pepe Reina
8 - Sami Hyypia
9 - Carra
10 - Robbie Fowler

Big Djimi came in at a credible 2,689th.

We signed Stevie G, Carra and Fowler (I mean from outside the club)? and Souness in the last 20 years, really?

Favorite 10 signings:
Reina
Hyypia
Hamann
Alonso
Suarez
Torres
McAllister
Henchoz
Mascherano
Dalglish (the manager, of course)

I only have one. Judas! because his signing meant we eventually score 50 million pounds from our rivals & watch them play a striker with a confidence crisis who can't score!

Pure gold.
