Even though he did stuff all in a liverpool shirt for pure football talent does anyone think Stan Collymore is worth a mention. And i voted for the King we all know who that was.

Like I said it was hard, but although, yes, Kenny was a genius, but Owen has a certain flair and style that, coupled with his natural ability, just, for me, pushes him over the top. Sorry, but it's just my humble opinion.

I went for Rushie - then Kenny

Was a tough call - Kenny could do just about anything - I just thought for pure predatory instinct - Rushie was the "Daddy"

I was stuck between Kenny and Rushie, Kenny was my fav player but I voted for Rushie because he was the best out and out striker we've had.

Kenny gets my vote but ironically I reckon as a manager he made a big mistake in allowing John Aldridge leave the club prematurely.  The Keegan / Toshack partnership and the Dalglish / Rush partnership were fantastic but I think that Barnes and Aldridge had an amazing understanding in '87,88,89 and was broken up far too early.

In recent years Fowler and Owen both were top marksmen but if I were to choose between the two, i'd give the vote to Owen simply because when we needed goal scoring genius in the 2001 cup final he produced the inspiration.  We needed a similar act in 1996 and Fowler didn't do it.

I agree Rush shouldn't have come back from Juve, we should have kept Aldo for another 3 years at least, I know he was getting on but he didn't age as quickly as Rush.

I only got the last few years of Kenny's reign but he was superb even then, best forward player and Rushie (at his peak) was the best finisher.

Aldridge and Fowler both very similar, slightly better finishers than Owen (who had more pace) so those three all equal.

Haven't seen much of Keegan and Toshack bar the odd old video reel.

dalglish and then keegan. they were truly inspirational players who were feared throughout europe.
i know keegan left us but he left us as european and league champions, he didnt throw his hand in when other sides like leeds started to dominate in the early/mid seventies.and he certainly didnt want to join them to win trophys. instead he worked like a trojan to turn liverpool into the best clubside in europe.if he was on the money these players now are on he would have never left. the difference between dalglish/ keegan and others is that these two played at their best when the situation was at its worst, for example i remember in the mid 70`s we only needed at draw away at wolves to win the title. with ten minutes left they scored. everyone was in shock, i remember listening to the radio with tears in my eyes,gutted, but keegan rolled up his sleeves and with minutes to go he got the equaliser.we all went bezerk. we went on to win the game and the title. people forget these things but imagine if say gerrard done this now, he would be almost a saint. the thing was it wasnt just this game, he did it all the time.
well i was only a kid but i havent forgot it.
i never will.

People have no clue. Do not forget our history. King Kenny, Keegan, Rush, Alsridge, Hunt ++++ are all much better than Owen and Fowler. It is remarkable how easy people forget yesterday.

All of the above were hugely talented. I have a soft spot for Fowler, but before him Rush and King Kenny went out and won championships.

Top players.

This sounds odd - I know - but had his mind been right there is absolutely no reason why Stan Collymore shouldn't have had his name on that list. His talent was immense. Had he the mentality of a Thierry Henry Liverpool would have won Championships in the mid 1990s. Some of his performances for Notts Forest in the season before he came to Liverpool were outstanding, and his displays in the second half of each of his two seasons for Liverpool were rather good (if patchy at times). Alas, Stan's mind and heart were elsewhere, yet another example of an immense talent wasted.

Kenny Dalglish was the best player without doubt.The best goalscorer was Ian Rush.Have to agree about letting Aldo leave to early.Although limited in ability,John Aldridge was the better instinctive goal getter when playing with Barnes and Beardsley than Rushie.Fowler on his day was better than Owen.Keegan was a gem.

Yes, Kenny was the best of the lot.

He was past his prime when I first started following him, although he still went on to win Leagues as player manager.
