Raul Meireles - Rent Boy Mark II

The Premiership - General Discussion

Postby Zidane » Tue May 03, 2011 2:19 am

So many players that I'm not sure where they exactly fit in the team for the future and Raul is one of them, I think he's played very well since Kenny came in but he's not a wide player and I'm not convinced he can handle CM responsibilities.. perhaps with more quality around him he wouldn't have to worry about getting stuck in.

Yeah agreed with that, not sure really where he fits in. It's a case of round peg square hole at the moment.

He isn't a wide midfielder Greavsie, its no coincidence that we have seen a dip in form when he was put on the wings. Before that, when he was playing more centrally he was scoring goals and playing some good passes, now he seems lost out wide. I think Kenny sees this as a temporary thing because of the injuries we have. Plus, he looks jaded recently, he played a lot of games this season

Has had many poor games and needs to be stronger in the tackle but also needs to play central, so many times he has been on the left or the right.

Why do people wnat to get rid of him??

He has has first season under his belt and just got better and better especially when Kenny came in. He has adapted to the Premiership and knocked in his fair share of goals. With all the extra pressure for places in midfield next season he will have to up his game even more!!

For me he stays

get rid of our player of the season and bring in Downing??? FFS, have some people lost their mind!!

Raul is class...even when played out wide (he's not a winger) he still played well and got a few important goals. We need to keep players like him, not move them on!

Personally i would give him at least another season. But if we do sell him we need a much better replacement. The new Liverpool way

It would be insane to get rid of him. The only one we have that can move him at the moment is Gerrard if he gets back in shape.

The only way I would accept Meireles leaving is if we got our money back and brought in an equally talented replacement. Sounds like it is simply a rumour but many suggesting Kenny looking to bring in a younger replacement.

I can't see Raul being moved on.

Once again stories reproduced by the likes of Daily Fail and TribalFootball. He wont be going anywhere and his place is certainly not under threat. He is much more of a complete midfielder than Jordan Henderson & Charlie Adam are at this time. I see him playing an inportant part in Jenny's plans this season.
