Miereles is not as good defensively as he basically offers nothing. Offensively, he had looked good in a couple of games but so far not able to dictate the temple of the game. I think he will improve vastly if we are able to find some proper wingers for him so he will have more space to work at. Anyway, he is not a bad player but i think he will be a decent squad player.

people like this guy make me laugh

hes just a decent squad player eh

how about after today? still just a decent squad player haha

give the guy a chance, hes moved from portugal, a league where hard tackling dont happen to the most physical league in the world

give him more than half a season before you judge him please

have said all along he's a quality player and today he showed what he can do. Great goal tho...think he scored one similar in Portugal a while back, but fantastic strike

.
His performance yesterday, coupled with the fact that he can't tackle, means he must stay further up field.
I'm sure we'll see gerrard playing in a deeper role on his return in the next game.
What a cracker of a goal btw :)

Where did it all go wrong :(

Very true and very sad.

"We've got the best midfield in the world... Momo Sissoko, Xabi Alonso, Gerrard and Maschereno oooo !"

We sang it and it was true.

Gerrard, Alonso and Masch were all world class midfielders and Momo was a scary b@stard!!

Proved yesterday that he is not a holding CM but someone who should be playing either as part of a 3 in a 4-2-3-1 or as part of an attacking 4 in a 4-1-4-1 (which is what it looked like we played yesterday at times).

Very very clever footballer who's range of passing, eye for a pass and touch look top drawer. Jury still out with his tackling but, as has already been said, he has come from a league where tackling doesn't really happeng into one of the most physical leagues in the world and he needs time to adapt. If he doesn't then before to long he will get a 'dull one' and find himself injured.

Man, it is a waste of time talking to people like you. After his performance last night, he is now suddenly the best player in the whole fecking world. Read my fecking post again, if you don't know how to read try not to sit on your brain before you type. We were playing Wolves. I had already said all along he is lacking in confidence and still not fully fit. But never said he is a bad player. I wasn't suprised by his goal as I had already notice he is particularly good at volley way before you fu.cking jump on the Miereles bandwagon. How old are you really? You sounded like a 10 year old glory hunter. Try tell people something we don't know instead of read and copy from others. Oh well, i guess this is what a 10 year old will do. LOL

He was excellent yesterday, man of the match. I was critical of him after the Blackpool game, frustrated at his performances but if he can keep putting in the kind of effort and composure he showed at Wolves then we have a good player there. I imagine hes a footballer thats difficult to place in the team, get it wrong and it looks horrible, but if he clicks its very good indeed.

Very good yesterday, even without the goal. Thing I liked was the fact that he was having a go at the net multiple times.

More of the same please Raul.

Will anybody saying "it was only Wolves" please fu'ck off?
The lad is class. He got booted from pillar to post and where he has, in the past, give up, yesterday he was immense. An assist, a wondergoal and a great all round performance.
If hes consistent, well worth the money Hodgson paid for him

It'll be interesting to see how we integrate Steven Gerrard back into the team. Presumably we'll switch Meireles into a more defensive role with Gerrard back behind Torres although after yesterday you could argue that it could easily be the other way around.

To be honest it's a good sign that we have these dilemmas.
