I think Meiriles is a good player, but i worry that he is not in the same league as the likes of Gerrard, Alonso, Mascher or even Aqua.

i think that mereiles is suffering from that rare and inexplicable footballers affliction known in the trade as 'a dip in form'. apparently every player has them from time to time. it was once believed that fernando torres was also suffering from one until it was diagnosed as being due to sh!t management.

At the moment he`s a waste of space. He`s not the kind of player who`ll roll his sleaves up and help you out when you in the brown stuff. We need players who are willing to fight for the shirt, he`ll not even put a shift in for his inflated wage.
Not good enough.

Remember wehn we had a midfield of Gerrard, Alonso, Mascherano and Sissoko

Where did it all go wrong :(

We fecked them all off with the exception of Gerrard and kidded ourselves that their replacements were better than they actually are. That's why we no longer control games and have a soft middle. Apparently, though, you can lose two "world class" players and still be as good as you were when you finished second.

Anyway, on Meireles, I think that a bit like Joe Cole and Aquilani before him, his problems are physical/mental rather than technical. That is to say, his touch, passing, vision, movement, shooting, his ability on the spin and to keep a move going etc.. are an obvious improvement on some of the others we have in our midfield. But, like some of the others we have alongside him, he lacks pace, strength, power, or the combative abilities and all round "ersehole" that you need to be really effective. I would suggest fecking off some of those around him first, replacing them with better players - able players but ones who can handle the physical side of the game - before we feck him off.

Exactly, that is the only worry, he is very soft and he doesn't a Mascherano, or Gerrard, or Hamann or Sissoko or to an extent Xabi Alonso with him. Imagine Meireles playing with Mascherano in the middle, we would have seen the best of him.

His performance today was okay, cracking goal, but he still needs to get his confidence back. Alot of players go through a dip in form during this part of the season, i'm positive he has the right character and mentality for LFC though.

Well, from what i had seen from  him so far, he's really good at taking shot on goal. And especially good at half volley. One of the problem i saw was that he seems always labouring and looked tired quickly. He is indeed looks like lacking confidence. He is a different kind of players than Mascher and Alonso. Miereles is not as good defensively as he basically offers nothing. Offensively, he had looked good in a couple of games but so far not able to dictate the temple of the game. I think he will improve vastly if we are able to find some proper wingers for him so he will have more space to work at. Anyway, he is not a bad player but i think he will be a decent squad player.

Well Gerrard is still here in a fashion ,Alonso left for Real Madrid when signing Barry was on the agenda ,and as for Mascherano well he didn't fancy playing under Roy's expert steerage against the choppy seas ..... and opted to use that thing called foresight
Momo was never the player he was after the incident involving a boot to the eye ...which for me was a great shame because he was a favourite amongst the Kop ....

Of course if you felt the need.... I'm sure many on here would concur and feel the common denominator in all this would be a certain Spanish fella ..... but then apparently  "THERE'S NOWT QUEER AS FOLK "

He was full of confidence after that goal, showed a lot of skill after he scored it.  WHAT a goal that was too.
