Raul Meireles - Rent Boy Mark II

The Premiership - General Discussion

Postby bigmick » Sat Oct 09, 2010 11:55 am

He looks a decent player to me, although whether or not he can become a good player in the Premiership remains to be seen. Why managers insist on buying midfield players for big fees who don't put a tackle in though does amaze me somewhat. Benitez did it with Aquilani, and now Roy has done it with Mereiles.

Obviously there's a chance that Mereiles will get it in the end, but it's by no means a certainty. Aquilani never did, and while the Portuguese player is obviously better than the Italian, he is hardly uprooting trees like the Dutch bloke at Tottenham so far.

I actually like him.
I think he is a clever player that uses the ball well.
The fact that he is being played on the right is baffling though and wont help him settle in to english football or the club quickly.
Hopefully Roy will not do that again as for me he was at his best when he moved infield on Sunday.

put alberto on the wing - if you can get him fit and see if he does any better.
How's he doing at Juve by the way ?

ffs he is a new signing,he should be pinching himself not to just know he has arrived AT LFC,but to also think -i'm starting in the first team,so i'm going to show everyone i'm worthy of this chance, give my all regardless of where i play, cause with my so called knowledge an experience of top flight football i will shine where-ever,plaese mate tell me one game so far he has demonstrated such actions, cause i'm still un-sure of this.

completely disagree.

first of all, when you purchase a player, you play him where he will blossom. not just to fill in a gap. otherwise, why not buy a player who plays in the position where the gap needs filling?

and second point, lets be realistic, Liverpool isnt the biggest club in Europe anymore. there's no need to pinch themselves. there's Munich, Real, Barca, Inter, Milan, Juventus, Man Utd and Arsenal with a great establishment.

and there's those like as Man City and Chelsea with no prior history of note, but such is the trend in today's sports that money talks. its sad. i grew up watching football at a time where there was passion for the sport. these days, with changes in society and all, players seem to play for money and high-end cars or jewels. its not the same anymore Hayesy. money talks and buys you success. that's the trend since Roman came in.

we will agree to dis-agree mate cause, like the song goes -feck off chelsea fc you ain't got no history etc, also i was very fecking impressed with joe cole when he signed for us -his first interview was about playing for LFC,not about money! if it was he would have signed for a so called club with more money to spend than us.

i still maintain we are the biggest club in Europe!- why? because of our history an players like joe cole do pinch themselves that they are at LFC. LISTEN TO HIS INTERVIEW MATE,when he said when he played for chelsea an came to anfield he knew about the history of the club an the fans, what the fans did on special European nights made anyone sit up an take notice etc because of what we stand for!

as for the teams you mention -with a great establisment-what the feck is that all about! there is only one club with more European cups than us,so the others aren't worthy of a mention for me.

finally if i ever heard for myself in words from any player honoured to play for LFC come out an say they only care about playing cause it pays for high-end cars, jewels etc- i'd fecking go balistic at them,i sincerly mean that mate.-what people might think players may say,or think is totally different to reality for me- do you honestly believe the likes of carra, gerrard, torres, cole etc etc would make it known that is all they care about rather than playing for LFC  first an formost, i sincerly don't think so.

maybe i'm an old fashioned bloke with niave principles, but i will stick to that mate untill i hear different for my own ears to think otherwise, cause iv'e been to enough games to stand by my judgement so far.

Joe Cole left Chelsea because they would not pay what he wanted. I doubt he got offered more than what we offered at other clubs.

What he says in interviews is just to kiss the supporters :censored:. Players always say stuff like that, it doesnt mean they actually mean any of it. They are not stupid enough to actually say they are here for the money. To get players like that to stay at the club they are payed retarded amounts of cash each week or they would feck off first chance they get. Even then we have players that care much more for their personal glory than winning anything with liverpool.

The players are in it for themselves.

again,as with you i will agree to dis-agree- not all players are in the game for the money imho. for me if that was the case they would be sussed very quickly by the fans -you know it as much as me- as for joe cole, you ask the majority of any fan of any club, they will all tell you they were as suprised, shocked but impressed with our signing of joe cole- why? cause he wanted to play for LFC. are you really telling me he had no other offers from any other club anywhere-cr@p -you know he did mate so do i an many other fans of other clubs aswell, including chelsea fans i reckon will openly admit he was an is a great miss,an would be worth paying for to keep.

did he sign for LFC cause of roy's influence, etc again many would say no-way! roy had no influence over his signing what so ever? who knows! but one thing i really sincerly believe is that he had many offers to sign for other clubs but chose LFC. why? cause of the reasons i have stated plus he loves the game, loves playing week in week out, doesn't want to sit on the bench etc- so for those reasons before he even agreed a pay cut fecking proves everything for me,an blows your argument about money well an truley out of the water.

i have alot of time for the likes of joe cole, who honestly for me wants to wear the red shirt with pride an give his all first an fore-most,rather than go to a club who will pay him more money to sit on a bench,so other clubs can't play him etc.

i also think he joined us because he is confident of winning medals with us,which would give him emence satisfaction as a player for us & on a personel level knowing he made the right descision in his career to join us when he did.

Hes on 90 grand a week and all hes done is get suspended for 3weeks missed a penalty. he did that neat pass to babbel when he scored and thats what u call passion. Hes done feck all else so stop licking joe cole meireles and nando ar'ses when they dont fecking deserve it

He left Chelsea because they would not pay him 100K a week to sit on the bench. He came to us because we were willing to pay him 90k a week, and offered him a huge sign-on fee. I dont think any other clubs matched it. There was definetly noone offering him more than 90k a week to sit on the bench.

Anybody else catch Raul's performance against Iceland scored a belter from 25 yards and hit the bar from 45 yards with what would of been a goal of the season contender.
