Back on topic...

Great signing. Proves our manager can bring in quality players and (more importantly) is can spend the money we brings in through player sales.

Agreed, back on topic.

In all honesty i can't say if it's a great signing yet , as i don't know much about the fella. There does seem to be alot of posters on here and other forums saying what a great player he is and what a good signing this is . So i'm more than happy to go along with that.

Hope Roy gets all the money he's made this summer to spend.

Feeling much better about things than a few days ago. We can't replace Masher, there aren't many like him, but I like the look of a midfield w/ some attacking prowess - which it seems Roy's going for. There were times we played Alonso in the holding role and really stretched teams as a result. It looks like Miireles is in a similar mold with a bit more of a shot on him.

Its also good to know that the manager has a strong hand in this deal and its not the board making these decisions. :cool:

welcome Raul!

great signing, has an eye for a pass and has a goal or two in him too....surprised by this completely when i heard about it the other day.

i would still like to see a striker......and hopefully the same sort of money spent on one (i know....longshot), but getting mereilas is a very good aquisition by hodgson

I must have said this about 3 times now

He is a box to box midfielder old school style. He has a very good all round game. He is described as more of a defensive mid than attacking but is equally adept at doing both, hence box to box!

Think of him as a more defensive version of Gerrard but still good at passing and shooting. Obviously not as good as Gerrard but you know what i mean

Best way to describe him Zara is he is an all rounder, he can pass, tackle, shoot, box to box type of player with great positional awareness, he in my eyes is the player everyone wants Lucas to be, hes not a Mash type player and isnt the best in the world in hi sposition, however he does everything very well, an exciting prospect here

Zara he is best described as a mix between both Xabi and masher - decent range of passive , very good engine , good tackler and got a decent shot on him

Am very happy with this signing if he can translate his form from Porto and the portuguese national team to the PL. Much better than what I expected us to be able to get for CM. Welcome Raul lad

great signing for us.
seen him play a few times and he is a good player,i just hope he can make an impact quickly.
far better at going forward than masch and more disciplined.
looking forward to seeing him play for us.
