Raul Meireles - Rent Boy Mark II

The Premiership - General Discussion

Postby OneHotRed » Sun Aug 29, 2010 12:02 pm

As said, completley different player from Mash, mash would sit there and stop people scoring, pick up loose ends, generally be running all over the pitch stopping dangerous runs etc, Raul wont be doing that, if anything I would say he is coming in to replace Lucas, he picks a pass, goes on little 1-2 runs thunders the ball, and also has a bit of bite in midfield too for a foreign player, Im expecting it will be Raul and poulsen doing the mash and lucas job from last year.

Of course this frees up stevie to partner torres, problem we have then is Joe cole, Im starting to think Hodgson wants cole 'in the hole' and will drop stevie into line next to Raul, which to be fair wont be too bad, cept other than Andy Gay its not his best position now i dont think.

Team expected

                     Reina

Johnson    Carra    Agger    <insert name here>

                    Poulsen

Stevie  Meireles <Kuyt/Jova/babel/pacheco>

                     Cole

                   EL Nino

More like Alonso than Mascherano. So why the hell didn't Benitez sign him a year ago?

Probably because he had more left on his contract, and would have taken up the majority of the Alonso budget, thats if he was even available

"Liverpool are a historic club and I am happy for the move. Roy Hodgson was key because he worked so hard to get me," Meireles told the Liverpool website.

See, if a manager actually cares, see what can happen, we can actually sign players without upsetting the rest of the team

I dont think its about caring daws, both obviously have different types of Man management, some types of man management work with one player, but then fail miserably with another, a great man manager can adapt his style and try to keep everyone happy, I think in reality we have 2 different men, both with different styles.  Hodgeson for me is more of a seeking assurance and bigging up players, whereas Rafa was more of a Im in charge, you will listen.

Both styles work in certain situations, and Im sure both Men have something to offer, and i believe both men have the cancers chopping their nuts off and stopping them doing unltimatley what they feel would be the benefit for the team.  FOr instance, i dont believe Rafa wanted Aquilani, i think he was a risk rafa had to take because of the Alonso situation.

Anyway, time will tell, and we have a new season ahead, with 2 signings that have made me very happy, Cole and Meireles, so although it hasnt been a great start, the way I see it is that it can only get better with additions like Raul, dont get me wrong, unless some serious gelling happens i dont think we will finish second or top, i think we are fighting for 4th at the minute and its all going to take time, we are rebuilding under the new manager, whom has limited resources and funds, and i think so far hes done extremely well with signings.

ANyways back to Raul and how greatr he is :)

No because Rafa thought that LFC revolved around him and his achievement in Istanbul and so because he didn't have Man City type money to spend after finishing second he thought he'd waste ii on Aquilani who he knew would be no good, just to prove another point to the board like did over Keane.

That statement has absolutley no evidence to back it up, no manager would sign players hoping/knowing they wouldnt be up to it. Give the man some credit shabelle

I don't think so. The day Rafa left Anfield was the day the club started to rebuild after six largely wasted years.

A nice thought to ponder, attacking on the break, 4 names:  Gerrard, Cole, Meireles, Torres <----I wouldnt swap that for any other premier leagues front men
