Apparently Spurs tried to thwart us with a late bid , don't know if there's any truth in it though .

Well the good thing is we won't be kept in suspense for too long what with deadline day looming.  :D

Can't see why any club would choose Spurs over us tbh. They had their 1 season in the CL and they will probably be struggling for 6th/7th this season. Zarate wants a pop at the big time and he can do that with us.

Will laugh if at the end of all this we will end up with Bellamy.  :D

Zarate

“Mauro does not even know who Hitler and Mussolini are,” his spokesman told German agency SID.  :D

To be honest he has a history of doing silly things. I remember a few years ago he watched a match from the stands with the Curva Nord Ultras. They made a ring to protect him, was all a bit wierd tbh but I think he is one of those types that can become a fans favorite so long as he can be arsed.

On Zarate, I'm very dubious about signings from serie A. Not just our past record, but other premiership teams too. Completely different style of football.

The lad Newcastle just signed, Santon, might buck the trend I reckon. Good player and very young. Zarate? Not convinced.

On the whole though, this is the best transfer window we've had in a long time, or at least since selling Torres for 50 mil!!! Exciting day tomorrow, I feel we might make one last big-ish signing. Surely a forward.

...and Chelsea can get to f££k with their bidding for Meireles!

He and Aguero both looked awesome for the Argies in the Under-20 World Cup Canada hosted a few years back.  Of course so did Freddy Adu for the Americans. :D

Not too excited bout Zarate

And Benny should stay where he is cos he sounded very happy when he left us and went to Chelsea, I rated him but I don't want him back.

Zarate would be an excellent buy imo... At this point in his career he surely understands that its now or never. Very similar to the likes of Cassano and Balotelli in terms of versatility and natural talent. Unfortunately hes also like them in terms of attitude and lack of consistency. If he comes then I expect him to be on the bench for the first few weeks until Kenny is certain that he can handle the pressure and expectations of being at such a great club. Like I said, I think over the last year or so he has matured and is now ready for a step up in his career. As an impact sub, he's surely worth a shot given our lack of options upfront.

You've got a good point.  It seems there's a time in many players lives when they realize they need to settle the feck down and start focusing.  It often happens when players transfer to a new club, probably because the new managers won't have any of it.

It's happened to Carroll when he's come here.  It happened to Barton when he went to Newcastle( I know he's still got anger problems, but he's NOWHERE near as bad as he was).  It happened to Ballotel.... Oh wait.  :p

But honestly, transfering to a club like ours he would have to know it's now or never.  Hopefully that would be enough to get his sh!t together.  His goal scoring record for Lazio is 1 goal in 4 games, which isn't fantastic, but it's definitely not bad.

He looks good at staying on his feet, but he seems a bit of a cheat at time grabbing the ball with his hands.  He is very fast tho.

It would definitely be worth it at 10, but I don't know.
