Not his fault we spent so much on him, but if the amount spent dictates we start him when he's obviously nowhere near the level needed then its gotta be a huge fck up by the management !

He's not a wide player for a top club.. not in a million years..

Unless we start using him down the middle (which i am not suggesting by the way given the talent we have) then he's gotta be a squad player at best...

Who is dictating he should start, he will subject to rotation just like most (Gerrard the exception).

I assume he started today due to playing against his old side. It normally lifts a player.

Let's not make him a scapegoat for a poor 2nd half performance.

He started because it's his old club... Simple as that.  Kenny was giving him that because a lot of players really excel against their old clubs with the feeling they have something to prove.

Clearly he wasn't ready, and clearly he won't be a starter for quite some time, but in a couple seasons he could be quite a player.

Got that right.  What exactly are we expecting from?  Not only that, but what did he do wrong today?  He actually impressed me with his composure on the ball and seemed to settle things down with his possesion.  His pass completion shows this as well.

I'm not saying he's a world beater or anything.  But to lay into him as some seem to be doing is a very knee jerk reaction.

Ironically Ace asks for objectivity.  I ask you to do the same Ace.

I won't celebrate Rafa going........ but I will be over the moon if Dalglish comes in. League within 2 years if he gets the job, AND YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT.

FFS .. Its a fcking forum .. People come on here to express opinions and discuss player, performances, expectations...etc...

He didnt do anything wrong but thats not enough at this level to win game Sherlock... If he's not good enough today then he shouldnt be starting in what is an important game for us.. sentimental reasons or not..

We signed the guy for 20mill, It comes with expectations and added scrutiny.. I know its not his fault we payed that much for him but its always going to be a factor regardless of whether you like it or not..

20 million....

I have no problems with signing players for the future... Flanagan, Kelly, Shelvey, Pacheco...etc are also players for the future.. doesnt mean we should be bringing out our established players to give them a run in an important premierleague game...

Its simple really, hes either good enough now or he isnt... If he is, then he didnt perform well and I dont see why you (or anyone else for that matter) would have a problem with people calling him out on a poor performance... If he isnt, then the manager is at fault for starting him ahead of Kuyt...

P.S If you want a forum were players/managers/staff are beyond criticism then I suggest RAWK

lol RAWK :D

as Bad Bob said it is still early days for Henderson, he had a poor game today but hopefully he will pick it up and improve. He did show some flashes of quality today but still not good enough, but I'm confident he will do well

I'm not saying he's beyond criticizm.  I just think you may be overstating how bad you thought he was today.  He wasn't a game changer and for 16-20 million it seems that's what you expect.  And to a point you are right.

But to make claims that he was useless (in the match thread, after 45 mins) might lead some (IE Me) to come to bat for the lad and defend him a bit.  I thought he had a decent first half, and was ineffective in the second half  ( Much like most of the team).

BTW I've never even thought of joining RAWK :P

Think he wasn't a threat at all, but it had more to do with Flanno than him.  Henderson isn't a wide player he's not gonna take anyone on really, obviously I know but yeah..  He's a right sided midfielder that relies on the fullback to make overlapping runs and play 1-2's with.  He relies on movement more than anything and Flanno left him deserted on the right side.  I knew it was going to happen even before we kicked off, I knew that our right side would be awful without Glen there and to some extent Kelly.  Anytime we don't have Glen there or Kelly at least our right side is terrible you can almost guarantee that it's not going to be a threat at all without them two playing.

Good post Zidane... I agree with you... During the game I said why isn't Kuyt and Kelly starting? Flanno has a good potential... But Kelly is more matured as a footballer and is more composed... I don't mind Henderson starting but I also thought that Kelly should be at RB than Flanno...
