Are you mad?

Toure and Silva have been their best two but even then they're blunt without Tevez, speaking from an attacking perspective anyway. Kompany had an awesome season as well

What next, Gareth Barry has been effective?

I also think Micah Richards is sh!t

Kompany
Clichey (we tried to sign him!)
Savic
Adam Johnson
Michael Johnson
De jong
Silva
Toure (Yaya)
Adebayor
Tevez

I'd take any one of those in a heartbeat.

Silva and Yaya have been awesome for them. Think they will be up there as serious contenders this season.

Not without a hard working Tevez playing up front. Not a chance  :no

If they were available I'd take Silva and Adam Johnson without question and given the questions surrounding our defence I snap up Lescott, all of them would contribute massively to our aspirations.

I wouldnt touch Baloteli with a barge pole- the lads on a different planet
Tevez has gone to corinthians in argentina and even if he hadnt I would have never had him here- he defines the true meaning of mercenary

Couldn't agree more Thommo. Apparently he can't resist signing on fee's.

His move (back) to Corinthians will make it 5 clubs in 7 years.

IMO, with the sale of players (Aquilani and Cole included) the money spent should be as low as 25-30 mill and that's if we buy another player (presumably a left back). If we don't sell Aquilani and Cole though, the money spent may rise up to 40 mill or more.

I don't see the point in keeping Cole, he hasn't shown anything.  His fee would be negligible, but is any team willing to meet his wage demands?  We still need a left back and central defender.  I expect 5 -10 million more(net) to be spent unless Aquilani is sold.

Back to that City debate, you really can't pick that many of them that would jump right into our starting XI.  Squad, yeah a bit more but our strongest XI for the most part is better than theirs.  I'd only take Kompany, Silva and Kolarov personally..  Carroll is better than Dzeko at this point in time, Dzeko was very very poor last season.  Suarez is better than whoever plays on their right or left and our strongest three in midfield are easily better than theirs.  Maybe that's just me though.

I dont really think our starting 11 is stronger than theirs... And by the start of the season, I expect that difference to increase further to be honest...

Atm, If you were to pick a starting 11 from both sides, you' have

                           Reina

Johnson      Kompany     Lescott     Kolorov

                 De Jong       Y.Toure

Suarez                  Gerrard             D.Silva

                            Tevez

4 Liverpool players and 7 Man City players... My guess is that they are close to signing a top class CB to replace Boateng (who imo was an absolute beast who was unfortunate with injury and never settled in England and is now on his way to Bayern). They are also in negotiations with A.Sanchez. If Tevez leaves as expected, they'll almost certainly sign Aguero and perhaps even Kaka or some other top class player to replace him...

In fact, looking at their transfers, most of the foreign players they brought in have done pretty well. The local lads and English league players who know the league and are 'established' in the country that they signed (Lescott, Toure, Bridge, Barry, Milner, SWP , Santa Cruz, Adebayor) have all largely failed to live up to expectations imo.
Bellamy did well but fell out with the management and A.Johnson while being a talent will struggle to get into their starting 11 if they sign Aguero and another top attacking player (Sanchez) as expected...

I thought he was Barca bound and refused to board a plane to even talk to City? ???

With regards to the starting 11s, I'm sure they'd take some of ours and us some of theirs, pointless including Tevez now imo, therefore a winger would be needed for Carroll. Making a decent man for man side isn't the hardest, its a team that's difficult to create and that's exactly where City have struggled.

Can only assume they are gonna offer him a ridiculous wage that not even Barca can match.

We would get more for Lucas than Aquilani
That would bring the bill down?

Kolorav ?? Lescott ?? De Jong ?? - Wouldnt want them near our club . Kompany would be ok as back up - Agger is better . Toure was ok . Silva was disappointing . Tevez was their stand out - Tevez either scored the winner or goals , or set up the winner in 70% of their games last season . Without him they are fecked - we ripped them apart last time we played them - and we were missing Gerrard .

Even if they replace Tevez with Augero - he isnt going to have the same impact that Tevez did . I would quite happily say that he will join their long list of expensive disappointments when the massively high expectations are not met .

They could well be fantastic individual players abroad - as a team they are disappointing .
