I get what they are doing, I understand they inherited a mess, but what I hope they understand is that down the lines some big money will need to be pumped in if we are going to get back on top. A working business model will keep you solvent and out of the finance headlines but it wont win you this league and its when that hits home I will be interested to see if NESV stay with it or flog the club on at a profit.
I'm sure they understand that incredible investment in players will be needed. Man City seem to have set the benchmark in some people's views on what is needed to lure elite players to a club. LFC WILL NOT DO THAT. We will not compromise the good of the club in a realistic financial posistion just to appease some impatient supporters. They will spend money when it makes sense. Responsibly.
I'm of the belief that the immediate goal is to get into the Champions League, thus the need to spend astronomically to lure players in will not be needed.
I think some people are overstating how difficult it will be to get back into the top four. It took the worst start to a season in half a century to tank our season last year, yet we were still not completely out of it with about 4 games left to play. Without the distraction of Europe this coming season, less wear and tear on the players, I think we've got a likely chance of finishing top four with the squad as is, let alone if we get a few more players in. Seeing the panic button being pressed on the first official day of the international transfer season IMO is going a bit overboard.
I have to agree with FSG. Patience.
