Green Light As King Kenny Plots €30M La Liga Raid To Leapfrog City
Date: 11th May 2011 at 6:18 pm | Filed under: Barcelona,International,Italy,La Liga,Liverpool,Manchester City,Manchester United,Spain, uncategorised,Valencia | Author: Jamie Nield-Siddall | Tags: Dalglish, Juan Mata, Manuel Llorente, Mirror, The Metro

Dalglish  is yet again set to splash the cash and according to sources in Italy he is leading the hunt for the signature of Valencia’s hot prospect E’Juan Mata .

Mata has been linked with the likes of Barcelona, Manchester United and City, but let’s be honest, who isn’t linked with City and their millions!!

This isn’t the first time the Merseyside’s have been in talks with the winger. According to Mirror  football in the summer of 2009 Liverpool look set to hijack the Spanish international for 16 million, in a bid take advantage of Valencia’s crippling cash crisis.

According to Spanish press Barca were hot on his heels also that year, but his father, also his agent said “Valencia would not sell Mata” But admitted if Liverpool were to come calling with serious money they might find it hard to resist.

Well the Spanish international certainly fits the bill to join Dalglish and his new improved attacking system at Anfield.

Mata has scored at every level from under 16’s to the senior side for his country picking up 49 caps and bagging 25 goals, including four goals in five games on the way to winning the European Championships at u’19 level. He has also hit the back of the net 32 times in 123 appearances for Valencia.

He certainly meets the criteria that Liverpool are looking for to fill the void that seems to have become a permanent resident on the Anfield flanks.

We know the Liverpool boss isn’t afraid to dip in to the kitty available and Valencia are in no position to turn that sort of money down.

Valencia president Manuel Llorente  was quoted in the Metro  this April saying “The Kid is not negotiable because he is a key man in our project” referring to Mata. If Liverpool put big money on the table, I wonder if his approach will change.

QPR are stepping up their pursuit of Liverpool midfielder Joe Cole.

The Daily Mail says R's boss Neil Warnock meets with the club's hierarchy today to discuss plans for the summer.

Liverpool forward Cole has endured a nightmare first season at Anfield after his free transfer from Chelsea last summer.

The 29-year-old is likely to be allowed to leave this summer and Warnock is ready to explore the option of bringing him back to London on loan.

Speculation over Adel Taarabt's future continues to linger and Cole is seen as a potential like-for-like replacement for the Morocco forward - though any deal would depend on Liverpool taking on a portion of his £90,000-per-week wages.

We need to start selling players instead of all these loans.

Probably not much mate. Hasn't he just recently signed a contract extension (or was there only talk about it) ???

Anyways I'm not even sure we need him now tbh (not that he's a bad player by any means, just that there are other more urgent matters to attend to transferwise imo).

Mata would be a great shout!

Don't need Alves and I don't see a reason he'd come here being wehere he is at the moment

The second coming of Xabi Alonso would be incredible as well - RM are spoilt in midfield so it might just be possible

There's been some Lemons shipped over from Italy but Zola at Chelsea and Di Canio at West Ham were top of the shop, also Di Mateo (Chelsea) and Ravanelli ('Boro) weren't too shabby.

Werder Bremen star Marko Marin has claimed Liverpool are interested in securing his services for next season.

Marin, who is known as the "German Messi", is regarded as one of the best young players in Europe.

The 22-year-old has been linked with a host of Europe's top clubs after impressing for club and country over the last 18 months.

Marin shone in this season's UEFA Champions League and he has also caught the attention of Tottenham after starring against Harry Redknapp's side in Europe.

Liverpool are in the market for attacking reinforcements and talented playmaker Marin fits the bill to the type of exciting young signings that the club's owners Fenway Sports Group want to bring to Anfield.

Marin, who is under contract at Bremen until 2013, claims he is aware of interest from Liverpool, but that he is focusing on life at Bremen.

"Yes, I am aware of it (the interest from Liverpool FC)," Marin told Bild. "However I am just keeping my focus on Werder Bremen.

"We had a very difficult time this season and it was a struggle, of course, I still like being at Werder Bremen. I suppose we are out to play a better campaign next term."
