I like Carroll but £30 million for a player who has played just half a season in the top flight is ridiculous on the face of BUT it's all relative. Darren Bent just went for £24 million and added to that Newcastle (like most clubs) do not want to sell their best player and English players always cost more. Taking that into account the MARKET value for Carroll probably is around the £25 mill mark.

hes got 11 goals in a decent league, no england goals

didnt even destroy in the championship really, 17 in 39 isnt that great

if he scores 20 prem goals this season il agree hes worth just 20 million cause of his age and potential, but never 30.

Carroll was my first choice all along. Up front with Suarez he would be awesome, and finally a big strong CF up there for us. I have nabged the drum for this type of player for months.

Part of me is a bit put off by the fee... but then again if this is the player we need get it paid and get him over here. We will then have three full time forwards on the books with Kuyt as well.. a lot better than now.

The fee will have to looked at as a long term investment. We will improve this lads game, and he is doing well at a club with far fewer players capable of playing to his strengths -here he would bang them in for fun.

On Torres... no one has mentioned any other of their players in a part ex deal.. I would take one above any of the others they have - Ashley Cole. Worth a punt but I know pie in the sky......

id have carroll over ibhrahimovich any day.
still cant believe the amount of cash being thrown about by all clubs in the last few hours.could be £150mil before the day is out.
still if we landed adam and young to go with suarez then we wont have done too bad considering torres fooked us right off.
shocked that newcastle turned down £30mil for carroll tbh.

imbra who has hit a very good amount of goals in every league hes played in

in italy he averages 1 goal every 2 games

in his season at barca 20 odd goals in 40 games

this season for ac milan 17 in 25

apparantly availble for 25 million
