Ya I was reading some article where it said that when we signed torres the first thing he did was go read all the books and watch dvds about our history and it said that if he is going to do the same thing for chelsea he'll probly have it done over a quick cup of coffee :D :D

"I will never play for another Premiership club other than Liverpool" - Fernando Torres, 7.5.2010

"My commitment and loyalty to the club and to the fans is the same as it was on my first day when I signed." -Fernando Torres, 3.8.2010

“My head is in Liverpool and on helping save our season. I am professional and I always fulfil my deals. I haven’t considered leaving, although in football that depends on the club.” - Fernando Torres, 9.1.2011

Sorry but you do well and truly have the rosed tinted glasses on. Just look at Ronaldos goal scoring record from the wings, his contribution to Utd winning 3 league titles and a Champions League as well as his age at the time the deal was done, he was also World footballer of the year at the time. Thats why he cost £80m

And Fernando has in the past few years won the European Championship as well as World cup. Not to mention his general strike rate for us is right up there.

FT wasnt our pen taker either.  In that season where ron had over 30 goals, 8 of them were pens, and he missed like 4.

I'd go with £50m + Anelka; a top class, albeit short-term replacement, and enough money to begin a proper rebuild. Not so long ago that might have seemed a pretty poor deal for us, but subsequent injuries, a loss of form and his apparent disenchantment make it quite a reasonable one, IMO. You can cite the £80m paid for Ronaldo but that is atypical and he is probably a better player anyway; he is certainly less injury prone. You can just as well cite the £25m Man City paid for Tevez or the £32m+ Barca spent on Villa....what matters is the value of the deal to the respective clubs. From Chelsea's point of view, £70m for someone as injury prone as Torres would appear to be too risky. Equally, from our perspective, £35m doesn't seem like fair recompense for a player who, on his day, is one of the best strikers in the world.

Hmm I didn't think this could be done, but let me just work this out for you, based on what fees clubs would probably accept:

Andy Carroll - £27,500,000
Arda Turan - £13,550,000
Charlie Adam - £8,600,000
Daniel Torres* - £350,000
____
= £50,000,000  :;):

*33 year old Costa Rican left back, currently without a club. (Source)
