Season of the Witch ... ? How anyone in Hollywood  would promote the notion Nicolas Cage would be a competent leading actor for their film ,then find a producer willing to lend their name to supporting such a travesty is a complete and utter head scratcher ... worst film this year and the list of promising scripts that Cage has personally destroyed is growing ever longer .....  I implore anyone who values their sanity to give this ridiculously bad film a wide berth .... :(

I Spit on your grave remake sickening in parts :suspect:

And "Let me in" was pretty good for an American remake

Still can't understand how Cage gets all of these leading roles in big movies, surely he can't still be trading off being Francis Ford Coppola's nephew.

The only film I've found bearable with him in was Kick- :censored:.

When you look at the number of potentially good films he's ruined down the years he really should be brought up on charges of crimes against the film industry.   :p

Agreed ....Cage is painful and has personally been responsible for mauling many a fine script over the years .....only one film suited his geeky persona and that was Raising Arizona ..... I guess even he couldn't ruin a Coen film such is their genius.....
but his crimes against otherwise credible actors who have had the misfortune to play a  supporting role alongside this blurt are too numerous to list ....

i don't mind nic cage, actually. he rocked in 'raising arizona', was excellent in 'wild at heart', was pretty good in 'face off', excellent in 'leaving las vegas' - and there's more too. he's had his fair share of duds as well but i think he's a decent enough actor.

last night i watched the coen brothers' remake of True Grit. i loved the original and was a sucker for westerns in my youth so i wasn't sure if the coens would be able to pull this off. i mean jeff bridges and matt damon instead of wayne, hopper and duval!! that's quite a cast to improve on. but actually they've done it brilliantly - i feel slightly guilty saying it but bridges does rooster cogburn even better than wayne did,and that's saying something. its a great old style western with the unique coen brothers stamp - beautifully shot and brilliantly acted.

Interesting Andy, I looking forward to the Coen rendition myself however but I think Duke will be saddling up the Ghost riders and visiting you about Bridges comment :D

The King's speech is a good film to watch, Firth and Rush really compliment eachother as the dialogue between them brings this film to life.

'Fair Game' staring Naomi Watts and Sean Penn, good movie about a CIA agent having insignificant proof that Saddam Hussain was building weapons of mass destruction. Her husband Sean Penn was a an ex US ambassador who was sent to Africa by his wife (the CIA agent) to find out whether certain elements were being exported from Africa to Iraq in order to make WMD. This movie was based on a true story.
