The figure thats been banded about for Suarez is £18m and I srtuggle to believe that's true. It wasn't that long ago it was no less than £35m. Maybe Babel makes the difference like, lucky b@stards :D

I haven't seen much of Suarez but it sounds like we're getting a bit of a bargain if this is true
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

I really hope we sign Suarez.  I think he could do a lot for our club.

I live in Holland and have seen him play here for the better part of three years now.First with Groningen en at his current club Ajax.

I am not disputing he is a good player, but he is without a doubt one of the worst cheats I have ever seen

.One season he was yellow carded for so many dives(9yellows for a forward) it is just not funny any more.A couple of those were unjustified, but the refs got to a point with him were they just assumed he dived.

He cleaned that up a bit,but he can be a wum of the highest order.Good player, but can be cringe worthy to support.

His upside is that he can play on either wing or central. He is hard to get of the ball, great shot and is unpredictable. That means unpredictable for both opposition and team-mates.
He is an upgrade, but not without his problems.

good. we need someone like that. winning ugly is fine so long as we win. im sick of seeing teams like Manure get away with countless penalties after their flower boys Nani and Berba dive at the slightest touch and get away with it.

I think the new owners would be keen to have their first signing be a "headline" one, as they have always said, look at what we do, not what we say.

So unveiling warnock on loan would not be a good sign of their intent, regardless of whether having him at the club would improve our squad and team.

Suarez would fit the bill for that first signing, as he is certainly well known (not for all the right reasons), and will cost a fair amount.  If Babel is worth around £8m they are going to have to pay another £12m or so to get him, if indeed Babel is off to Ajax.

The other more "oridnary" players, the likes of Adam , Warnock and Dann may well come, but I expect those would be unveiled once the biggie is announced.

The groundswell of rumour around Suarez, and now some journos saying we have made an approach would suggest there is no smoke without fire.  Either that or this is the best smokescreen in transfer history, and we'll see Llorente turn up at Melwood this week.  :grinning:

Hope the Suarez rumours are true, i think he could be a very good foil for Torres.
Dann is out for the resr of the season apparantly so cant see him moving anywhere until the summer.

Not likely to see Llorente unfortunately as the Madrid scum have an agreement for the summer.

I'd take Suarez any day of the week as he looks a top prospect, I think his diving would soon be drilled out of him, Torres used to spend a lot of time on the ground in Spain but that soon changed when he came over here.

Reds make Downing approach SSN

Skysports.com understands Liverpool have made an approach to sign Aston Villa winger Stewart Downing.

The England international has impressed for Villa this season and has been an ever-present for the club in the Premier League.

He is Villa's top scorer with five goals in the league and is understood to have been the subject of an enquiry from Sunderland last week.

The 26-year-old is now being targeted by Liverpool as new manager Kenny Dalglish seeks to inject some fresh blood into his squad.

Downing cost Villa £12million from Middlesbrough 18 months ago and he has made 64 appearances after injury delayed the start of his career in the Midlands.

Villa boss Gerard Houllier revealed last month that he was confident that he would be able to retain the services of Downing during the January transfer window.

However, Villa's pursuit of Sunderland striker Darren Bent could prompt the club to consider letting Downing move on.

An offer of £18million is reported to have been made for Bent and cashing in on Downing would provide some of the funds to bring in his fellow England international.
