no, Britiain is loaning the Irish the cash (with interest, of course) because we have strong trading between the two countries. Apparently, on average, each person in ireland spends over 3 grand on British products.

All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

I'm only joking mate, My great grandparents are Irish.

It does make me wonder how the hell the government can come up with these funds to bail the Irish out while at the same time axe thousands of jobs in our own country because they supposedly have no money.

simple, we borrow the money at a low interest rate (because we have a AAA+ rating with the banks) and we loan it to Ireland a slightly higher rate, thus making a bit of cash on the side.

I'm not suggesting we'll screw Ireland over, and the money we'll make will be minimal, but it wont cost us anything and we help a close trading partner in the process. Simples..
