Chin up and do our best until something changes. Meantime, keep our dignity and don't stoop so low as to completely disparage the manager. Bad performances speak for themselves.

RBG, I don't agree that sticking with your methods is a sign of arrogance, it's a sign of sticking with your methods. Rafa took a lot of stick for being stubborn with his tactics, and people took that to be arrogance, too. Wasn't right then, isn't right now. If you think Roy hasn't given adequate explanations for our bad performances I would agree, but in doing so I don't believe his intentions are to insult the intelligence of the fans, that would be well, illogical.

No mate what's illogical is the posters who simply fail to see  the significance of 3000 of our most loyal died in the wool travelling fans chanting Dalglish's name at the end of the Stoke game .... for want of a more apt phrase the jigs up

Because he never had to. However he did suggest a ground share with Everton and by god look what happened when he did ! Only he could suggest that and get away with it.

Because back then we were on a successful run. Our loyalty wasn't tested as much as success was a part of our game. When Roy took over, he took over a mess. On and off the field. A case of sing when we are winning.

Why does he proffer such inane excuses for his and the teams failure

Because it worked for rafa?

Why does he not credit the fans with a modicum of intelligence

Its hard to when they create as much tripe as the media do.

how can he be as arrogant to suggest he will not deviate from the tactics he has utilised for 35 years ,even given the fact he is now at the most successful team in England ....

Again, that was rafas attitude, and he is sorely missed, why not go with a tried and tested method?

No ...I was thinking more on the lines of the manager answering them ...not someone who has in all probability never set foot in Anfield
You understand Lad ...it adds a touch more credence if you have any affinity with the club or you part with your hard earned every week
no offence like but next time I need to know about  Grimsby fish market I will drop you a pm

In a nut shell.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Why is your only defence on what Hodgson is doing = "But rafa did it as well "

Does the excuse what Hodgson is doing ?

Surely it was wrong when Rafa did it and that means its wrong when Hodgson does it .

Currently IMO No

Agreed, but going back to my initial post. Benitez DID get that respect despite having an equally poor start. His respect was on the proviso that it would take time to adapt and mould the team to his methods.

A better question would be whether we think Hodgson has the potential to achieve a top four team? Does his skill set allow this?

I can't really comment on how much Rafa was respected but I do remember he did a few things that endeared him to the fans - going into the pub with was a big turning point . As for your question I was say that's a definate no - he won't get us into the top four and doesn't have the skill sets to achieve it IMO

Ok so lets look back on why rafa was given time .

Two la liga titles
Uefa cup title .

He brought his valencia team to anfield and played us off the park .

Roy . 35 years of mediocrity .
We played his teams , we know his style and that is why he gets no time , because it is appearing before our very eyes . MEDIOCRITY.
UP THE PURPS !!!

But even after this poor start we still had decent performances in there. We beat Arsenal at home, we came from 2-0 down to beat Fulham away, we spanked the likes of Norwich and West Brom at home with some great football. At least we could see a pattern of play developing with Alonso pulling the strings and the likes of Garcia, Cisse and Kewell providing a goal threat.

The football then was a million miles better than the dross we've seen this season, with the exceptionof Chelsea in the first half.

maybe that's because he was managing mediocre teams and we were hoping with a better group of players at his disposal, he would do better..
