the forum has been in a state of decline for the past 5 years if i'm to believe the occasional rumblings of discontent, reg. the bickering has been going on for years and will continue to do so - if its not in the roy thread it will be in others. locking a thread isn't going to help - and it certainly isn't the logical course of action :;):

i remember that back in the heyday of this forum there used to be some almighty fights that sprawled across numerous threads and things haven't really changed all that much. it also happens across other forums i'm a member of - you wouldn't believe the spats that can break out on a tortoise keepers board, seriously! its the nature of the beast - people either deal with it, or they fück off.

I dont think its a good advertisement for this forum, the mindless two-way sledging between posters is tedious and quite unnecessary.

The forum exists for the enjoyment of the members not for the egotrips of the few and the intensity of the current discussion is turning away established members.

Go look at the Wigan thread in the General discussion section to see how humourous the forum used to be and also how many members have recently slipped away.

Folks, the owners have changed, the manager has changed and now OUR attitudes have got to change. We have to be more positive and move away from constant bickering.

I vote we close the thread for a week and reopen it with 6 further points in the bag and the happy-clappies are back in force.

But for góds sake stop the bickering.........  :idea

im sorry SIR REG nice try but it wont work. God forbid we draw or lose 2nite the same few will be out with the daggers.

The responses are pretty predictable however I hope I've got you thinking.

Its a 4-4 split so far between options 1 and 4, so the silent ones are having their say.

Rocky, sometimes its nice to raise your standards, son.......

Should we close the Rafa thread as well? Essentially the same discussion is going on in both threads

I have some petrol for this fire :D
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

i think in truth that Rafa should not be used anymore, he is not here now, some think he was great other think he ripped the club apart.

no one is ever going to win.

Roy on the other had is our manager now and just like Rafa if he makes mistakes they should be spoken about.......but not usinf Rafa name as a stick.

if the thread is closed for a few days untill after the games then we can re look at what has been going on.

i would just let it run, sadly you can never stop the minority from stirring up confrontations, i rarely post anymore just in case i get targetted for having a point of view

although this wont stop me from coming here and reading other peoples discussions

dunno about minority mate. Its more the debate itself, if its all that gets talked about people just throw their hat in the ring

Sorry Reg but i have just took the time to look back at the Roy thread and most of it is due to Rafa V Roy, there are two sides and it dont matter what a member from one side says they still get shouted down by the other side, anti Rafa or Pro Rafa, then it soon moves on to having a pop at each other and then its got nasty.
