i agree. MON has experience with the English league and might be able to find some gems from the lower leagues.

Id like to see Rijkaard as our manager, although i will admit...his managerial career has been hit and miss so far.

Fortunately for us, the hits have been with "Bigger" teams and the misses have been with the smaller teams.

He did get some team relegated for the first time in their history.
He also had a slow start at Barca, which is something we really can't afford right now.

But he really turned things around at Barca and went on to win a lot of trophies. And his Dutch team played really attractive football during Euro 2000. (They got knocked out on pens to Italy in the semi's but were the better team on the day).

He would be a bit of a risk but i think its a risk worth taking. He'd definitly try to get us playing attacking football.

To be fair, ALL managers with the exception of Mourinho (I know people won't like it but it's true) are hit and miss. Even Ferguson who has won everything, has had stretches of a couple of seasons when he's won the best part of feck all. That's ina job where he has money. Ancellotti is doing well at Chelsea, but he had a fairly long period at Milan where they were not the best team. Rijjkaard did well for a time with Barcs, then Guardiola seemingly improved upon it. Even Benitez did well at Valencia, was either hit and miss or a messiah with us whichever you choose to believe, but has plenty of feck ups in his back catologue as well. Wenger is a top manager but hasn't won anything for years (admittedly with some excuses), and the likes of Capello continues to make the England job more complicated than it ought to be.

I actually hope we do get rid of Roy soon, simply to have a fresh start with the new owners and give the fans chance to unite. FWIW I would have Rijjkjaard, not because I know much about him, but I thought while he was at Barca he conducted himself very well in the face of Mourinho's posturing. Seemed like a good guy, obviously was a top player, why not?

Anybody thinking though that any manager isn't a risk is deluding themselves frankly.

I like Rikaard alot .and wouldnt mind him as our manager, my preferd manager though would be Joachim Loew, he has worked in the game longer, built uphis cv with small clubs spotting fantantic talent on the way ,went to work as Fenerbache boss and done great there . Worked with Brehman and made a name for himself there , worked along side Klinsman .never put a foot wrong and now we all cold see ourself how he changed the way Germany play football, absolutly lovely to watch, and some of them young ones he coached and brought on at them smaller clubs are now world class players , Mesut ,to name one, I just like him and his style of play,

Laudrupp i like an all .similar type of coach to Loew, i dunno i just think He has unfinished biussiness with us, And still attend when he can our games , BIG BIG mates with Rushie and Kenny and anytime LFC play in any senior tourno or for charity the man is there ,

Rikkaard has been there and done it, as player and manager , managed one of the biggest teams in the world and some of the most influential players in the game, Hes getting flak at the moment in Turkey,, he wasnt allowed to pick his own captain , the board done it , the board have a say on anything that goes on in football matters out there, even as far as picking players, Turan wanted out last season, so the president took the armband off his team mate who had ghad it for ages and gave it to him , along with an big pay rise to get him to stay, Rikkaard had no say, Troubleis brimming to boiling point out there at the mo, and thats only on a couple of bad reults. Fans dont want him nomore an there is unrest in the board room about him, so imo he will be gone from there , AND YES ID UVE HIM HERE ,
any of the 3 managers above id be happy with,

I would not be happy though with Martin O Niel, no chance,

I wouldn't sack Hodgson until summer, a man of football deserves respect, and not even Mourinho would get us in the top four this season.

For next season, Rijkaard no thanks, Hiddink, ok, well, not bad.

God Sabes it could be to late by then mate , have you been watching this clueless football that is being played, he has to go Sabes as soon as , its not about getting in the top four nomore Sabes its trying to get out the botton ten, because if he carrys on with this style of play thats were we will finish in the botton half of the table, Id get rid now . Stick Kenny and Rushie as his side kick until Christmas to stabelise and bring moral back into the team, , they will have the respect of the players and the fans, no pproblem, and the fans will appreciate what they are trying to do and that is get us out of the position we have found our selves in with Hodgson, , The new board should have had a bit of time by then to look around Quietly and suss out a long term manager, if it needs be . they might even have to remain there till the end of the season, But im sorryy Sabes Roy cant stay until the summer,

I would seriously take a long hard look at Frank Rijkaard and with very good detail may I add. Fair enough he did a good job with Barcelona but without Henk Ten Cate at the side of him his record is quite frightening.

He took Sparta Rotterdam down, when Ten Cate departed him at Barcelona he won nothing afterwards struggled and the troubles set in and somehow he has taken the best team in Turkey barring Fenerbahce to 9th place.

Yes I have seen the football, and it's a bad one. And I'd agree with you if I see relegation danger, but I don't.

I expected the defeat against Everton, those derbies are not about tactics, but attitude, and Everton played with the motivation of getting Liverpool sunk, and Liverpool played with the panic of being about the relegation places.

But Liverpool will get out of there just like Tottenham and Arsenal did in previous seasons.

If I saw real relegation danger I'd agree with you but I don't see that danger despite the 19th place.

I don't see why not. He hardly failed at Barcelona, he won the league twice and CL once. In fact his stint at Barcelona could fit our needs quite well.

In 2003/04 he finished runners up despite having been close to the relegation zone earlier in the season

As i said earlier - Barce hadnt won the title for 6 years and the CL for 16 years until Rijkaard arrived . If he did come to us he would need Ten Cate with him or a very good number 2 .

Whatever Dutchman does come, seeing as they're pretty good at plugging holes in leaky defences (dykes 'n stuff), I'm sure he's have at least some idea how to shore up at the back...

IIRC His first half season at Barca was awful and he was about a game away from the sack but he brought Edgar Davids in on loan in the Jan window and moved Ronaldinho from the middle to the left hand side and the rest as they say is history - Eto'o and Guily were bought that summer and they had some lad Messi coming through the youth team and Rijkaard went on to win it all in the 3 seasons

i think he bought in saviola who for me was a big reason barca climbed back up to the top.
