i think some need forget Rafa, we are in this mess with our players due to him, a lot of the players he spent money on were :censored:, Roy has been left with less than half a team.
thats my last word on Rafa.

Well I personally thought me and Magusks was having a decent discussion re the previous manager and Roy, which in this case I don't think warranted people telling him to 'move on'.

I mean there is a big difference in the way this convo went to say that of Lando or anyone else, with them you can't argue the to.ss as it is ridiculous.
Football is a relatively simple game and Roy knows it ;)

Rafa was let go/fired because the owners and rafa couldn't agree on the terms and conditions to move forward. It's as simple as that. When Rafa renewed his contract they agreed on conditions which the owners/board couldn't keep and Rafa questioned them. This has been said by Rafa and similarly Torres. If people on here couldn't see who is the main culprit in our decline then I'm afraid they will be in for much more disappointments. I'll just say that if Rafa did stay I can bet my house that he would be able to improve on last season's performance similar to people claiming that Roy can improve on last season's performance. Rafa didn't leave because he somehow ran himself into a deep hole and couldn't get out. He wasn't given a chance to get out. It is a matter of principle that if people screwed you in the :censored: before and you don't like it, you're not gonna let them screw you again. I'm just gonna stop here because people can think whatever they want at the end of the day.

P.S. The deadwood like Lucas that Rafa left behind could reportedly snatch Roy 7 million pounds. That's gotta be fairly good deadwood which is fairly useable as firewood I must say. No matter what anyone says Rafa is a legend for LFC for winning our 5th European Cup, 7th FA Cup and restoring us as a force in Europe. If anyone says otherwise I'll be glad to respond with a 'feck off' anytime. Roy indeed has a long way to go.

Seriously mate he's gone, let it go.

Okayyy BM, or should I use "the previous manager" every single time? which I think is ridiculous and pretentious...

FYI I HAVE moved on and that's why I got no qualms about calling "the previous manager" by his name Rafa Benitez... because that's what his name is... so yeah if you want to treat this like 'thou shalt not use his name because then it means you aren't over him yet' than be my guest, you can play that game, not me ... but there is no reason not to call Rafa, Rafa... or what should we be calling Houllier our 'previous previous manager' and Kenny as ' our previous previous previous previous previous previous manager' now? You don't need me to tell you how ridiculous that notion is now do you? Those who haven't moved on are the ones that's always comparing Roy with Rafa... you don't by any chance do that do you? I guess not...

You know what, if we're wondering why there is constant bickering on this forum, this is a very good example. I don't think that anyone is having a problem with pro-Roy's biggie-ing up Roy.. "Ohhhhhhh... Roy did this as opposed to the previous manager... Roy did that as opposed to the previous manager...blah blah blah". It goes to show that the pro-Rafas are the ones that actually have a problem with moving on

Oh yeah a cheap shot... great! and not too original at that... following your high and mighty leader Optimus Bigmick I see...

Roy even said he isn;t a replacement for anyone.

So your full of :censored: as per usual.

as for Aquaman, firstly the transfer window isnt over, and we are in talks which Diarra.
second, he played fook all last year, so he aint exactly being missed.

What planet are you on? One where the end is nigh that's for sure.

Look, if i have a car that is a F'in banger, that costs me loads in maintenance, i would want rid ASAP. BUT i wouldn't go and by a replacement until i'd sold (or part ex'd) the one i own!!Your obviously different.

No, you're absolutely right. The manager had no idea at all that Mascherano, who had demanded a transfer on his first day back at work, would be leaving.

No idea at all.

You pudding.

Just to clarify, you're saying "let's wait until Mascherano has been sold before replacing him, even though it's a done deal"?

OK, brainiac. Let's wait until deadline day to get a replacement for the best combative midfielder in the World.

You absolute a*se. :no

Who dug this arrogant pr.i.ck up?

Still haven't learnt how to debate without trying to insult i see.

and yes, we waited to sell masch b4 bringing his replacement in.   the portugeeser.  I thought that was obvious.  well it is to everyone but you

wot a mo.ng

No worries, I was calling it as it was.

It was a civilized discussion that didn't turn into a slanging match (which is a rarity in this place).  :D

Rafa is not a legend. He did a fantastic thing by taking us to our fifth European cup. His part in that cannot be denied.
But in the end he lost the plot and could take us no further so he had to go.
Part of me says good luck and part of me says good riddance

Rafa's legendary status is assured by those who matter . The same as the previous leaders of scal-quaeda before him, his name shall be sung and his flags shall be waved . Tis our history that we celebrate and tis our glorious leaders  that we honour . Noone can change history and noone can take that way from us. Roy our current leader has to earn that and i'm sure he will .

To me Liverpool FC is about being the best in the country as well as the best in Europe. Even though Rafa  failed the first part, he achieved the second part, which even the likes of Jose "the best manager in the world" Mourinho failed to achieve with Chelsea, back then arguably the wealthiest club in the world. Not only did he win the CL, he put us back on the map in Europe and we were a force to be reckoned with in Europe. Few could reasonably argue with this. For that he is a legend in the history of LFC TO ME, maybe not as great a legend as Kenny Dalglish, but a legend nonetheless.

Next time when Liverpool fans sing "We've won it five times, in Istanbul, we've won it five times" who can deny that Rafa was part of this?

But then let's not talk about "the previous manager" anymore... let's talk about Roy and the striker he's supposed to bring in...  :)
