"wooooo woo woo woo..... - We had the best midfield in the world

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Ciggy » Fri Aug 27, 2010 8:10 am

In less than a week we have let two of our central midfielders leave for the amount of 40 million pound.
Replaced them with Poulson for 4 million.

Mascherano SOLD
Aqualini SOLD

FML

Whats it going to take for people to wake up to the dire situation we are in?

That's bullsh'it Lynds!

We haven't even done that well - Aquilani's only gone on loan  :( .

Just over a year ago:

Pepe, Arbeloa, Carra, Agger, Aurelio, Kuyt, Mascherano, Alonso, Yossi, Gerrard, Torres.

Disgrace, the whole thing.

You could argue that Poulsen is as good as Sissoko. In fact I don't even know why Sissoko is on the list? ???

As for Aquilani - part of the best midfield on the planet? Let's get real here, he barely played, even when fit, under Rafa.

Alonso and Mascherano both wanted out under Rafa also. In fact, directly blame Rafa for Alonso's exit.

Nice to see balance in your posts as always Ciggy

I'm guessing the post had more to do with our owners and lack of investment as opposed to anything to do with managers .

Im so feckin angry right now the board and Roy knew Mascherano was leaving how the hell did they agree to let Aqualini go to Juve?

Tom Hicks: Liverpools in for a big summer.......

Is that right Tom? By selling our two central midfielders and replacing them with Lucas brazilian Leiva and Christian Poulson. Recouping 36 million in the process.

Christian Nemeth and his agent spoke yesterday.

Nemeths agent: "Liverpool told us that it is not the question of quality but a financial decision. As it is with others out this season."

Nemeth:
When I went back in the summer the club leaders told me they had financial problems, they needed money urgently, wanted decrease expenditure had to reduce the squad.

No but everythings ok cause we got Joe Cole on a free and we have an english manager now.

It is lookinhg increasingly gloomy and a return to the bad old 90's looks inevitable.
Hopefully it won't go completely Pete Tong.

All we need now is for Kenny Huang to say he is buying Everton :p

Hes on ignore along with his sheep, I guess it was another dig at me about "good old uncle Roy?" When quite clearly im talking about the owners and the liverpool board. And if Roy had anything about him he would resign immediatley !!!

Feck all to spend and players getting shipped out left right and center.

I don't believe SCS is fully aware of the grave situation our club is in, under the current owners....he persists in blaming everything on Rafa Benitez...talk about head in the sand..

Thing is tho, both of these sales make sense.

We paid way over the odds for Aquilani, and the more he played, the more he would cost.
If you know your investment was a bad one you don't blindly stick by it knowing it;s going to cost you a lot more (and jeopardise any other investments)
And if the rumours are true we are getting most of our money (minus wages) back.

As for Mascherano he wants out because of his family, so we are forced to sell.

You can blame the owners, and roy all you like but in the case of these two sales, i would have done the same.

I get what people are saying but to be fair most of the people with these reservations where 100% of the opinion that Gerrard and Torres were being sold.

Just to ask you all, are they still here ?

Mascherano wanted to go, i think we should have been holding out for 25 million but when a player is refusing to play it leaves us with a problem.

And Aquilani has been dog poo for us.

Yes that makes loads of sense replaceing a 25 million pound world class midfielder with Christian poulson for 4 million.

And letting Aqualini go to juve without signing a replacement, yes that makes loads of sense I totally agree.

Fucking hell what planet are some of our fans living on?

I'm not blind to the situation at all.

The lack of funds prevents our competition with the other sides. I despise it as much as any other supporter but I believe that transfer policy has not helped the situation one bit.

There was no reason for any of the following sales, they weren't forced to generate cash, they we're poor choices -

John Arne Riise AS Roma £4,000,000 01.07.2008
Peter Crouch Portsmouth £11,000,000* 11.07.2008
Xabi Alonso Real Madrid £30,000,000 05.08.2009

Those players left for reasons that everyone has gone through many many times now . At least back then we sold players for their correct fee .
