Loads of action but a paper thin storyline i.e Romans fight Picts ( now known as Scots ) Picts capture Roman General. Half a dozen Romans venture into Pict territory in an attempt to rescue the General. Rest of movie is the Picts pursuing the Romans as they try to get back to their own lines.

Lots of hard core violence, Spear in the mouth, Axe in the head, Blood gushing and spurting all over the place etc etc.

Fairly entertaining if you like that stuff but ultimately forgettable.

Ironically Ive just read weekend paper's review today and the film critic's review pretty much reads the same as yours.

Look like bigger budget has got in the way of good storytelling again.

I wait for video and possibly go check out Splice at flicks next weeks instead

Not sure where the budget went. When the movie starts the only visual evidence of a bigger budget was the hundreds of extra's that make up the Roman Legion and the opposing Picts.
I thought "great, we're gonna see some spectacular engagements", unfortunately within half an hour the Legion is gone and the "scale" of the movie is downsized to around a dozen characters .

Stallone, Statham, Jet Li, Rouke, Willis, Arnie etc etc etc - The Expendables.

Precisely what this movie is. You've seen it all before folks. It's a Rambo movie with added beef extract.

Liam Neeson - The A Team. Never really liked the original TV series but found this fairly enjoyable. Like the above mentioned Expendables it's nothing we haven't seen before it is however fairly inventive with it's stunts and has a fair sprinkling of humour.

Guess I'm just a little jaded when it comes to appreciating movies. When you see four or five movies a week every week for years and years there's not a lot in terms of plot or action that you haven't seen before.

Probably why I turned to Asian cinema, got loads of 9/10's there and even a couple of 10/10's  :D

No mate, but I f*ckin' should . :D .

So far this week, Salt, A Team, Expendables, Shelter, Diary of a Wimpy Kid and and a "comedy" who's name I've already forgotten.

Tonight it's something called "The Experiment" starring Forest Whitaker, a remake of the German movie Das Experiment (2001)

Apparently according to IMDB "26 men are chosen to participate in the roles of guards and prisoners in a psychological study that ultimately spirals out of control"

A bit like this forum :D
