Taxi for Torres - judas fecks off to chelsea

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

According to Spanish TV la Sexta, Liverpool have a 80M bid on the table from Citeh.

Can you see Purslow saying no to that?  I can't.

Perhaps the long conversations between Purslow and Torres are about Purslow wanting desperately to accept that bid, and Torres not being happy about the idea of playing in Manchester.

I'm not being funny, and I know 90% on here will call me allsorts, but if the bid is 80 million quid then we take it, simple as that.

You are probably right

Still, it's the kind of thing that would explain how Torres doesn't have problems with Hodgson and the team, but yes with the club.

A club wanting to accept a bid from a team that the player doesn't fancy.

Remember that Marca front page thing with Stevie? Hot hot hot or something...more shi.t stirring. At the end of the day Torres said all along he would discuss his future after his hols.

Anyway he has 4 years left on his deal and if City want him the deal should be more than 80Mil. Either 100Mil or 80Mil plus 2 players. Ireland and De Jong.

I don't think anyone wants to see him leave, but for a player that is only fit half the time and for a squad that has several holes.  80 mil could go a long way.  You could buy 2 very, very good strikers and a world class left back with that kind of cash.

Fair comment the Marca one, but in that case it was just Marca, who are the press arm of Real Madrid when it comes to signings. Madrid did make an offer, and in their foolishness, they thought that paying something in the lines of what they paid for Alonso would be enough.

The difference this time around Bav, is that all the press, from the Madrid to the Barcelona press are talking about the bid.

The only difference is the money, while some press talk about 80M bid, the catalan press talk about, hold your pants, 114M Euros, which would me more than 100M quid  :D

P.S. If such a sell was done, the net spending credit and the add ons would go for Rafa or Hodgson?

So if we sell Torres for 80 million that still leaves us looking for a striker who can leave on a free :D

Again, it comes down to how much of it will Roy see to rebuild the team...

If I were Torres I would flat say no to playing for Man City as well... come on...

I agree with you Bav... even though I would be ok with 80 million if Roy can use ALL of it...

I would then buy Aguero and Huntelaar and a Left Back...

If Torres goes to Man City, I would be happy to take Tevez, Ireland, and Bellamy in return. The last two will struggle to get in their team. It won't happen, but it's a nice thought.

Hodgson obviously

No but in all seriousness it would. Clearly Torres represents a significant portion of our talent base, and the new manager would have to have at least a stab at replacing him. That will cost money, and if like the manager who won the Champions League last season he manages to replace his star striker and fill one or two other positions out of the change, he deserves to have a zero balance sheet.
